[WinMo or OfficeMo?]

At this point, I would really want to ask Steve Balmer this question. Are you selling Windows Phone or Office Phone? I listened a radio ad about Windows Phone, and it is talking about Office stuff. My thought is this, so is WinMo targets this nich market called Office Mobile market? At this point, I feel like WinMo has an identity crisis.

Are you selling Office Mobile or are you selling Windows Mobile? And as of now, I feel it is Office Mobile, which I totally has no interested on it. Outlook? Everyone can do email. Word and Excel, seriously? I don't care. WinMo targets that small nich Office Market which I am not part of. It will continue to fail until it starts to target casual users other than Office Users.

You can now try my software in peace since they have tested my app with their anti-virus and anti-spyware software. miniWE is an app launcher specifically aimed for Win7 users. You can run it on XP and Vista, but, Win7 will get the best use out of it.

Version 3 http://cid-b765d9ea1833315b.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public%20Archive/miniWE

http://download.cnet.com/miniWE/3000-2344_4-10968843.html

Couldn't pin your folder in Win7 task bar? Use this app. It is basically a pinable app pointing to any folder as you desire. You can create more miniWE with different ID to prevent miniWE grouped by Win7 taskbar as well.

Update: v3.0.0.15 is a lot more responsive, not faster, just more responsive by moving icon loading to photo loading. And you can make it open the folder right away without using my GUI. Meaning it is basically like Folder in a Win98 quick launch bar.

<evnet:views>266</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://channel9.msdn.com/493193/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Yuppy, my miniWE has been approved on download.com now.

I am moved to school, so I have to lock my Windows 7 RC1 64Bits with administrator password. But, after I done that. When I restart my computer and type in my password and click login. The thing is, when FarmVille loading the farm I can't switch tab in IE8. And Chorme can switch tab when the farm is loading. If may be like 10 seconds depends on how many things inside the farm. And the feeling of my entire IE8 is stucked loading that farm really disappoint me. The tab/process is already separated, so I would I even get forze up by a busy tab? No matter what happen to the tab, I should be able to do whatever in IE, like switch tab, close tab, press refresh button, or press tools menu or so on. Instead, when the tab froze, it froze IE as well. Of course when I termincate the tab, I didn't terminate the IE at all.

So it really bugs me. When I terminate tab, the IE is still alive. When the tab crashed, other tabs are still alive. WHY WHY WHY it froze IE GUI? It just doesn't make sense for me. It is already another thread, then, why in the world IE is still being affected and yet unaffected by the tab at the same time? I really don't get it. To even make that possible is like..... seriously, how can you make that happen? Sometimes I think some people are born to be good at being terrible.

Anyway, I really don't want to switch. But, IE is really getting outdated. One day, I have to let go. And finally start using other browsers. Waited for better IE since IE6 SP2 when everyone start switching to other browsers. At this point IE8 is only manageable, just like Vista. I am not sure how long I can hold on to this.

I am still waiting for download.com (uploaded today 5AM, no sleep LOL) to approve my app, but you can download it straight from my SkyDrive or attachment (oops, CH9 is having internal issues). Since DX11 is required to support GPGPU, wouldn't it be nice to toggle such feature on and off to run normal programs? I am wondering if MS going to make such application or I have to find a 3rd party solution. If MS can do it, it would be the best.

[I am all for WPF.]

I am all for WPF. (WTH, I was replying, must be IE6 issue)

Yeah, there are so many ways to learn to bind a collection, but it only takes few to do everything. All I have is a simple static observablecollection as resource to populate the listbox, and the, just feed my data to that static observablecollection on runtime to show show items in the list(s). That's the only way I know am good at, and it works like a charm.

I love WPF. I think it is rather easy. I am not expert on it, but I can make a rather nice looking app by it. I really love the sytle template and pure visual layout using XAML. Winform is easy for simple stuff, but once I need to have more control, the underlining code is so confusing compare to simple XMAL.

And what WPF is so amazing is the Skinless GUI. Oh damn, I have seen the sample/tutorial on codeproject.com. It is extremely crazy. Just a simple drop box, the GUI is applied with different skin, which not only change the color of the GUI, but complete different layout and user interaction. That's just pure gold. It really is "Skin Designer" origented. While the backend provides skinless GUI, the Skin Designer provide the skin. If you are not good at making skin, you can "contract" a 3rd party to do it. When I say "contract", you are not "buying template", you are contracting a complete interactive skin.

Technically it is in another world of its own.

[IE, Gadgets, and WPF Internet Browser.]

Are they using the same rendering engine? When I install a new IE, the Gadgets looks different (like tiny fonts). And how about the WPF Internet Browser? Are they all running the same engine as IE is using? If I turn off IE, does Gadgets still works? Are Gadgets and WPF Internet Browser dependent to IE?

It is concerning since the Windows 7 EU (Ewww version) has no IE, thus, I don't know if Gadgets and WPF Internet Browser will work or not.

Should it be the future? [WebKit? Should it be the future?]

It seems like there are several WebKit based browsers out there, on PC and Cell Phone. WebKit is free and it is widely used, which means it is standard now.

Why develope everything for IE to compete WebKit? Why not just use WebKit as well? To be honest, not only using WebKit for IE saves money, time, and web developer adoption, but, there is a secondary effect, to kill WebKit. It doesn't sound logical, but I believe the day IE adopting WebKit is the begining of the end of WebKit. It is just a mentality community issue. Why develope IE in house when WebKit is the obvious easy path.

Actually I think IE should make it Open Source. It is not like it is making money anyway. And there are so many law suits by greedy EU.

in reply to WebKit? [What the point of Office Live?]

It looks stupid. I can do better file sharing using SkyDrive. Or I can just use Live Mesh to sync and share my files. Office Sounds like a solution to Free Google Doc, but I can't edit online. From the look of it, Office Live is just a collaboration file repository system. Which is rather point less when Facebook makes better event invite and SkyDrive is just way easier and able to share any file.

I don't get the Office Live team. What's the purpose? It seems useless.
