Perhaps I am going a bit far, but I would really like the ability to buy a copy of Unix for my home PC for $15.75 at my university's store like I can with Windows Vista Ultimate, so I tried to make the best case I could for why Microsoft should buy SCO.

Besides, I think that Novell vs. SCO lawsuit determined that SCO never "owned" Unix and that all Unix-related assets belong to Novell.

If you are interested in learning about the development and history of Unix. It also has a number of distributions that you can download for free although they wont work directly on a pc, it might be interesting to try porting

since graduating (going on 6 years ago now), the majority of the projects that ive encountered (at least the ones which have taken any significant amount of time) have been on embedded platforms,
I have however dipped my toe into a few Java (can I say that here?) and C# projects....
so I would say generally Embedded Software Engineer -
i dont generally bother with aliases on the net.... on xbox live im party martin (wanted party marty but someone already took it
)
my email is address is my name......
i've nothing to hide -
P/DOS is a little long in the tooth and only reall available for the older platforms (ie 68k systems), I doubt its VxWorks as this doesnt (as far as I know) have a windowing system.
It may be QNX or LynxOS (havent really played with either of them yet)...
... but Windows? in a control system for a hard real-time application?
forget it -
After graduating in computer science, I looked around for a tech job job in the area but to no avail (I got a 2:2). I broadened my search a bit and went to a went to a few 'milkround' events.
In the end, I got my first tech job by applying directly online via the company's recruitment website. Within a few months of applying, I had a career and was relocated. It was a programming job on a large variety of different projects mostly C and Java.
I was with that company for about 16 months, then I transferred to one of the company's Joint Ventures with another relocation and have been there for over 4 years now, again another programming job.....thats what I do im a programmer/software engineer/whatever they are called these days[H] -
make C your next target!
every programmer worth his salt needs it
