martinmine martinmine I see you're a coder, I'm pretty much a coder myself
  • Ping 178: Xbox points, Microsoft Tattoos, Star Trek lands

Bill Gates (duh), Scott Guthrie, Steve Wozniak and Kim Dotcom just to mention a few Smiley

I don't hope MS is going to abandon the MSP system. Me, just as every other Norwegian loves traveling to Sweden to buy cheap food and stuff, and among those stuff is MSP Big Smile

  • Ping 177: Female CFO, Barnes & Noble, Facebook App, Working at Microsoft

Whaa? Facebook wants all the 3rd party apps for Facebook away? But I always found using a 3rd party app for Facebook way better than the official one. When I was using my Nokia, I always used a Facebook client which embedded the webpage in the app. Simply because the Official app where lagging when I was scrolling, and was in general slow.

I don't get how Apple is so high on that list. Out from rumors I have heard, the working conditions ain't really good in there. Maybe their workers gets paid to score good on that test? Smiley I would deff want to work in Microsoft when I'm done with my studies, one of my goals is to get over at Redmond and work there. So maybe I will see you in the future, Laura Wink

  • Ping 176: Windows Phone goes mainstream, Best ad ever, Facebook Beta app, MS exec makes a difference

It was during 2nd grade in high school I had a discussions with one of the media teachers during an ICT class. The media class (and teachers) are fully iFanBoy, meaning they (almost) only use Apple devices for whatever they do during school and free-time. The teacher told me that on Mac you could create the most beautiful applications there was. I looked at a bit weird at him, turned around my laptop and said to him: "You see this program? It is called Visual Studio. With this you can basically create any application there is: everything from a cook book program for your mother or a web server." Probably the funniest discussion I ever had with an Apple fanboy.

I'm happy to see that you guys are working on your Facebook app again. I remember my experience with the current Facebook application on my Lumia 800 was that it was plain slow. I did not see why the menus where lagging and why it took so long time to start the application and load stuff on it. It ended up for me to use other apps for Facebook which had some iframe-like integration of the web-version of Facebook. But it is nice to see it is finally getting worked on Smiley

  • Ping 175: Wp app for Droids, Forbes Wifi, Next Xbox, Bing Offers

I hope there will be an ability to download content in the background. Also, I just hope Microsoft makes their servers a bit faster. Waiting seconds for a message to be sent while I'm playing Halo isn't exactly a good experience, same with waiting for the xbox menu to go away when I accidentally clicked the xbox button on my controller. As other people suggests, a way of streaming would also be fun Big Smile

  • Ping 174: Build conference, Xbox music streams, Farewell XP, Microsoft in Utah

I agree with @Dirtbagg on JB, he is flooding the Norwegian media as the brainwashed girls are flooding our capital.

You find it closing sales of alcohol 1AM weird? I find it rather odd you even sell alcohol that early. Here in Norway, stores can't sell anything with alcohol after 8PM (or 6PM in the weekend) and alcohol over a certain percentage which I can not remember has to be sold in a special store which closes even earlier Big Smile

  • Defrag Tools: #33 - CLR GC - Part 1

Omg I need this, thanks Big Smile

  • Ping 172: MVP Program, Developers get paid, TMall in China, Xbox hacked

@Von Bern: You gotta pay taxes in the Netherlands as well, friend got company there Wink

Meh, I think Microsoft should focus more on quality on their apps. "hurr durr, my platform has X apps" It doesn't really means that the apps are good and that the users will have a good user experience with it. Sure Apple got tons of apps, but there was still no decent Imgur app until recently. I believe this will rather make developers submit an app just to get those 100 dollars, and lose focus on functionality and the purpose of their app. As a user, I don't wanna have a gazillion apps on my phone where this app is good for posting stuff on social network X, and this app is good for browsing social network X, key is to get good quality applications so the users don't exactly need that many apps, not some pre-release alpha/beta-stuff that barely works and crashes on one of 10 startups.

  • Ping 171: SXSW wins, Flash & IE, Cross-platform gaming, Office 365 FREE

@IRB:I was thinking of that you where STILL using pen and paper Wink

  • Ping 171: SXSW wins, Flash & IE, Cross-platform gaming, Office 365 FREE

@IRB woah? Still using pen and paper? I just do that for sketching up designs and stuff in UML. Some people gets amazed when I show them OneNote in class, almost everyone uses Word (wtf?) to take notes, probably because all they know about Office is Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I would probably not have survived without VisualStudio (2012) and Office. Even though there are alternatives for both of those, Visual Studio has by far the best intellisense and OneNote and the nice UI makes Office the easy winner Smiley

  • Ping 170: New Kinect capabilities, Viral Search, Valve & Xbox, Office 13 transfers

Waaa, you guys still send American Idol? I thought that was just some * they just sent in Norway to milk as many people as possible. Been far too into Sim City I barely had time to watch the episode Big Smile I would guess I'm most excited about the new xbox which is rumored to come out in (or be announced?) this year, also looking forward to the new Halo game which is also rumored to be announced with the xbox.

I'm on IRB with the Twitter thing would just lead to marketing spam. I'm fed up as it is with "like this, like that, share this, share that" on Facebook, I also find it funny how people are using a technique on Twitter where they get followers by following others. I can then see in my mailbox some random people followed me which also follows a few thousand other people, but when you follow that many, you kinda lose the point of using Twitter. The more people who uses a social network, the more advertisers and kids uses it who create what I would call "digital noise" which is what makes me uninterested and more or less annoyed about what pops up on my social networks (Facebook is the worst of them). So Paul, if you are able to make ads which are not annoying, they are interesting and they apply to their target group, you would really have a nice business going Wink
