Thank you for all of the kind words! I always enjoyed working with the Channel 9 team on my videos, including the Countdown shows that I did with Jennifer for our MIX and PDC events. I'm not going far...I'm saying in the Seattle area, and I'm sure I'll run into many of you at future events.

PDC09 is happening, and I just blogged about the places you can plug-in: http://blogs.msdn.com/mswanson/archive/2009/06/19/pdc09.aspx. As Charles mentions, Jennifer and I will start-up our "Countdown to PDC" show sometime around the time the conference site opens (early August). Sign-up for the e-mail list and join the Twitter conversation, and you'll be one of the first to know what's going on.

The 9 guy treatment is fantastic. I really love it. Great job!

As far as I know, TiVo doesn't expose the To Do list programmatically. That's a bummer, because I'd love to be able to see what's scheduled to record using the gadget.

Hello fellow niners! I'm sure that more than a few of you have TiVo HD units on your home network, right? Well, I wrote my first Vista gadget for the Windows Sidebar, and I thought that some of you might want to check it out.

As always, I'm very interested in feedback and suggestions.

I haven't talked to them myself, but there's already a post on their discussion forums about that idea. Once the project is submitted to CodePlex, I don't think it would take much effort for them to integrate this, since the logic is implemented as a reusable library. -
Fellow geeks (and I mean that in the most complimentary way): I thought many of you would be interested in a free utility I just released called SEAMonster. It's a .NET-based implementation of the brilliant seam carving paper presented at this year's SIGGRAPH conference. You've probably already seen the video of their work, and if you haven't, you're in for a treat. It's inspirational stuff.

I'd love an comments and suggestions. Note that the algorithm is computationally expensive, so working with large images will be glacially slow. As developers improve the algorithm, this situation should get a lot better.

First, I'm glad to see all of the excitement around MIX07! This is shaping up to be an amazing event, and I hope I get the chance to see everyone there.
I'm responsible for the "bits" we hand out at the MIX07 conference, and I thought I'd take a moment to answer a couple of the questions that have been asked on this thread.
Q. "...when we hear X copies of Expression were sold will it include the number who got 'free' copies at conferences like mix?"
A. No. It’s a Special Edition and separate from what will be available to the general public.
Q. "Also is this built into the cost of the Mix07 conference or are they really free?"
A. They are really free. It is not part of the conference fee. Although the Expression team was already considering a giveaway, customer feedback always has an impact.
Hope these answers help. -

Completely agree, JChung. It was meant to apply to the case I was describing.
