Coffeehouse - Vista delayed...misses Christmas - launch now 2007

Glad to see everyone at Microsoft is happy.

You know, as I have read many posting on Channel 9, I have seen great faith from Microsofter's in it's leadership. Now some Microsofter's close to the Vista project don't like what is going on, so they are calling for the resignation of Steve Ballmer and Jim
Allchin, and possibly others. That is quite a tall order.

You signed up to work for Microsoft. Your work is not your own. You got owned. You should have developed for an Open Source project.
Check out this website and see what happened to you.

Lenn, It is not about old vs new. It is about right vs wrong. Truth vs Lies. Diplomacy vs Monarchy. The struggle for power and wealth. And this isn't a recent development. It has been going on for centuries like this, just in different forms. And this
battle begins, not out in the world, but in our hearts.

Coffeehouse - Business Week - How Microsoft is Clipping Longhorn

Lenn, what Microsoft is afraid of is it's own shadow. Most companies like to be known for their victories, not for their defeats or their past sins. Microsoft has many of both. And some of their sins are piling up. I have said before, the technology doesn't
matter. It is the polictics and the marketing. Microsoft has been very innovative with polictics and marketing. And they are trying to write their own rules. No Lenn. It is not old world vs. new world. It is the difference between right and wrong. It is the
difference between being contributive, having an attitude of gratitude that the company exists at all to have the opportunity to serve the general public, and a company that exists only for ONE reason, profit. Money is the god of Microsoft, not Love. And I
am not saying that everyone at Microsoft is this way. Eveyone has their opinion and eveyone has their choices. But the opinions that matter and the choices that are available come from the people in control of the company. They steer the whole company. Microsoft,
as a company, has to grow up and mature. I am not talking about money growth. I am not talking about long-standing in the market. I am talking about a growth in attitude and community with the rest of the world. If it can't do that, it will eventually diminish
greatly or die. I recall one true story about the Automotive industry - the Tucker? Great innovation to an industry that didn't want to grow up because of the Big Three. I see Linux and Open Source as "the Tucker" of the technical industry. Except the "Big
Three" of the computer industry has a more difficult time in wiping out the little independant. The Tucker was one, Open Source is many. Microsoft has to learn how to live and truely compete with Open Source, not kill it.

Coffeehouse - Business Week - How Microsoft is Clipping Longhorn

I don't see many people outside of Microsoft or the Microsoft clik posting to channel 9. Yes, I am an outsider, as you can tell. I promise I will be kind in my responses. I don't plan on changin anyone's point of view here at Channel 9. There seems
to be a one-sided slant on Channel 9. If anyone on Channel 9 changes their mind about anything, it is because they have chosen to do so.

I am an old timer in the computer sense. I have programmed in assembler on Apple ]['s and Commodore 64's long before most of you were either born or on the payroll at Microsoft. I have watch long and hard at the progress Microsoft has made in the world
market. By the looks of it's technology and innovation, it is not any better than anyone else's technology and innovation. Many applications are nice and useful. The OS code sucks. I have always had the opinion that Microsoft is a good applications company.
Bad at OSes. I know you can take me down the road of what is an OS, what is an app. Does it matter? Well, as far as me goes, it matters to me, and that is as far as it matters.

I like what Bill Gates respresents in technology. I hate what Steve Ballmer is doing to the (political, goods market, stock market) system . He is the one that is trying to buck the systems, spooking the passengers, and creating lots of (unecessary) negative
vibes in society. And he hides it well. Of course, one from the inside of Microsoft could debate me, but hey.. I am here , you are there.

I like software that allows me to choose what I want from it. If I want a GUI, then I will set up a GUI. If all I want is a text based system, then that is what I will set up. With Microsoft products, I have limited choices. With other products, like FreeBSD,
or MAC OS X, or you-know, that pesky penguin OS [that just will not die no matter how hard Steve tries to throw money (not his money mind you) SCOs way to kill off the only real competition Microsoft has had in a long long time and as long as this new competition
has been holding it's own,] I have technical choices. I like Microsoft software. I don't like how it is pushed through channels, the marketplace, and the courts. So it is not the technology per se, it is the politics.

I watched "Pirates of Silicon Valley." Went to woz.org, verified some things. Verified my ideas with the real world. Talk to Paul Allen lately? Never mind. I have my opinions. You have yours.

Hey, I could run a company like Saddam Hussien ran Iraq, but then I wouldn't like myself much. Hey, there is a company like that already, guess who I am thinking about. Na. You would probably say something OTHER THAN Microsoft, of course.

What is Truth? By what standard can you compare what is truth and what is a lie? It depends on how big your picture is on the environment that you are looking at to derive reality. See the "Passion of the Christ?" Is that a reality? How will the true
reality stick? Does it matter? I think is does. Maybe you don't

Have a nice Easter

Coffeehouse - How to Hate Microsoft?

Microsoft guiding baystar to failing SCO Unix to keep the trouble stirring on the Linux front

Microsoft stealing technology like they did with Apple, Stac Electronics, Sun Microsystems - Then using monopolistic wealth to outlive a case in court so they opposing company either folds, cries uncle and settles, or suffers great loss, thus killing competition.

Microsoft trademarking the name "windows" which is a generic term. Yes, I know there are a "few" companies with trademarked generic names. I am speaking of Microsoft now. Others can speak of those companies elsewhere

Microsoft being a burden of society in regards to pushing their technology on the market place with great resistence from the marketplace, but then the market place caves becuase there are things more important to do in life than fight a whining idiot.

Steve Ballmer

Microsoft spending $6.5 billion a year in R&D and THIS is all we have to show for their efforts when people out there are writing better software for free.

Microsoft acting (key word is acting) as if they should be the only providers of computer technology

Being forced to buy a copy of Microsoft Windows with the purchase of a low cost (under $1000 retail) DELL, HP, or Gateway computer. I could buy a 3rd party PC without Windows, but maybe I want a DELL with something else besides Windows. It can't be done
unless I buy an expensive (over $2000) system.
