Speeding up Parallel.For using the Range Partitioner

Join Danny Shih as he demonstrates using the range partitioner feature. Parallel.For is great, but being a general solution, it does not perform optimally for certain specific scenarios, such as when there are a ton of iterations and very little work per iteration. In these cases, the range partitioner can be used to speed things up.

The File Classification Infrastructure (FCI) is a new Windows Server technology included within the File Server Role. FCI is exposed via File Server Resource Management (FSRM). FCI is used to:

Define file classification properties.
Define automatic classification rules and triggers.
Enable custom extensions via API’s available with the Windows 7 SDK.

This lab will introduce you to FCI, how to configure the feature, and how to extend it with custom file classification properties and actions.

Windows Web Services API (WWSAPI) is a native implementation of SOAP that provides core network communication by sustaining a set of WS-* and .NET* family of products.

This lab illustrates how to create both a WWSAPI client and service. The service fronts a legacy native "sort.dll". The lab demonstrates the significant performance gained by avoiding manage/native interop in comparison with a WCF service end-point.
