i recently started using SQL Server Express Beta to get into the swing of using SQL and learning SQL. it is fun to use and has helped me on a project. the sites you mentioned for SQL reference are top notch. i'm sure other readers are aware of those as well.
some of my favorites include dotnetjunkies and thecodeproject.

great note about CLR compliant languages working within sql server.
surprised that bren incorrectly explained TAP in the beginning.
