To me, in the past 5-6 years ago. The rule for all(Most) Microsoft platforms and dev tools was you'll never get fired for going with Microsoft. Now a days I'm constantly defending my choice to use a Microsoft technology and I have to do a check list to see what the chances that MS will stop investing in that tech platform. There is no longer any stability in the Microsoft world, one day MS is all in, next day it's out (WPF, silverlight, XNA, .Net, LINQ2SQL, Linq To HPC). I know wpf and.net are not dead but the "perception" to many of us and again our customers is that they are or are on the way out.

Given all this then you add Windows 8 dev stack, (.Net, Html, JavaScript, C++)  sends the message to us devs and our customers that Microsoft has no idea where it's going.

I really wished MS would just stick with something.

Google = "Java"
Microsoft = .net? JavaScript? C++? xaml? html?

A few questions i hear a lot from customers about the Microsoft stack; which one is really the best (JS,.net,c++)? Which one is going to be around. MS is really pushing HTML hard, why not just make a web site and it will run on all devices including my Ipad?

It has a lot of .Net like features in it (Base Class Library. But I really would wish Microsoft would "Dart" in c#.

One of the things that really struck me, good thing, is that it has a built in "Jquery" like system and binding. It's very XAML like and it takes care of browser incompatibilities.

I think if Google ends up using for GMail or some other google services, it might get some traction.

Hey i got an idea, why not just put OSX on Surface, The cycle will be complete.

A little off point but, years a ago there was a saying "No one ever got fired for buying IBM/Microsoft/gold". Now a days you have to some how look at your "magic 8 ball" to before using any new Microsoft technology because you never know if/when Microsoft will discontinue and leave you up the creek (silverlight, expressions, just to beat a dead horse  ). Its getting to the point where you just can't trust Microsoft any more.

Ever sense i first used VS 4, well VB4 at the time, up until Visual Studio 2010. Things have been getting better, things just work.

But with VS 2012 this thing a joke, its buggy and slow. But i guess that's what happens when a dev team focuses on changing colors and icons instead of working on real features.

Intellisense stops working, auto formatting stops, things that worked before just stop working out of the blue and new things like search stops being clickable.

Maybe its just me but this lately all of Microsoft's major products just feel like there getting worse not better.

lets me view all my file types from pc and my windows phone.

The guy that is the PM for Dart is Brad Abram (aka MR. .net, to me at least), why do great people keep leaving Microsoft, and implementing the ideas else where. Maybe its to many business guys in charge, i don't know, just my option.

Google at least gets it that Javascript is not ready and will never be ready to make large apps, something Microsoft at point does not get... "Windows 8 Htm5+Jscript".

Maybe a little competition will help Microsoft, like iphone did to Microsoft to produce WP7.
