Tech Off - Enabling Visual Styles for Windows.Forms Controls hosted by Explorer Bar ??

Hello All,

I have created an Explorer Bar in VC++ that hosts Windows.Forms controls (.Net 2.0).

The problem is that these controls do not render as WinXP style but as classic Windows Style.

PS. If the same controls are hosted by .Net 2.0 Windows Application, they render correctly.

Did anyone encounter such a problem before and/or figured out a solution?

Regards

Coffeehouse - Girls & IT

During my 9 years career in the IT I have encountered few girls in the IT industry even fewer in the dev domain.
Besides those who are, are not really passionate with what they are doing and consider changing career whenever the opportunity arises.

For example, I donno the number of girls in in this forum but I can expect that it is much lower than the number of guys.
It is strange to notice this fact:s and still helpless cncerning it interpretation and the reason behind.

Any idea how many sites were NOT successful? Don't aim to high the first time or you will never make it.

I am not, really.
What I wanted to say is that those sites are not based on complex ideas and years of research, they are not cancer treatment, global warming solution. They are just simple ideas.
I know that for each successful story there are 10k failures, but that's no reason to say it won't work for me...
If someone has the skills he has the potential, all he needs is to try and learn...
Again I am not aiming too high but I am giving examples of simple ideas getting very successful.

Coffeehouse - Is it easy to find investors these days ?

Hi Foxbar

Thx for the detailed info. As a matter of fact one of my ideas is nomore an abstract idea, I have already developped a little demo or a proof of concept, surely there is still a long way ahead to be complete.
Thank you for reminding me of patenting it, u r 100% right.
Since I have a canadian green card and moving to canada soon, I will work on a patent in canada 1st then (if I am lucky enough) in USA.
Although u might not seem very optimistic regarding new ideas, or at least this is what I have undertood, I guess chances are always there and we should be ready whenever any chance appears.
I will take 3 examples: YouTube bought by Google for 1.6bnUSD, Flickr.com bought by Yahoo, and FaceBook.com is worth 1bnUSD according to CNN.
So the morale is that no one can predict the future, the essential is to be ready to catch the prize whenever it jumps in front of our eyes.

Anyway, thx for the info.
Regards

Hi
My post might seem a little bit strange however since this is the coffeehouse, I guess I can post it in here.
I am interested to know how easy to find investors in the US these days?
I am not a US citizen, nor I live in USA, but I have few ideas that I can qualify as interesting, and I believe that the best place to put them at test is the USA.
Since all brilliant ideas usually grow at Uncle Sam's land, I am very interested to try my luck too:P

So if anyone would like to tell me how and where to start, I would appreciate it...

Coffeehouse - Working at Microsoft

Well I wish to end this political discussion, and I understand your position since you are from China, however I am a lebanese living in Lebanon, and I have been in the demonstrations and I am aware that without the support of Mr.Bush and other super powers,
we could not have made it. This does not mean that we as lebanese people do not earn credits in liberating our country, but we should be realistic, there were many demos in the past without any results.

Hope we can move to the topic again, on how can a candidate be accepted in Microsoft
thank you.

Coffeehouse - Working at Microsoft

Well I am not here to talk politics. The reason I have evoked Mr. Bush is because most americans may not know where is Lebanon. So I am just reminding them that recently Mr. Bush have spoken about Lebanon so many times...Of course interviewers won't ask
me to thank Mr. Bush and I am not thanking him to get hired by MS
I am thanking him because he helped liberate my country. In one of his statements he said "USA won't accept half solution, 70% or 80% free Lebanon, we want 100% free Lebanon".
We are free after 30 years of occupation (nearly since the day I was born).

So THANK YOU AGAIN MR. BUSH without your help we could not make it.
Same as Ukrain without the help of the West it could not make it....

well,IMHO,in ur possible interview, the MS recruiters will never ask you to thank Mr Bush...
anyway, flattering Mr Bush serves no purpose for ur interview.
they will simply ask the question:
can you liberate urself without any help?

bcos they really want to know whether or not you have the ability to do programming independently...

Hello,
My name is Ziad, I am 30 years old software engineer from Lebanon (MiddleEast). I bet you have heard quite a lot of us from Georges W. Bush lately. Well yes, thanks to him we are now a free country thx Mr.Bush

As a matter of fact my posting might appear a little bit different. I am interested in knowing how could I get a job (as developer) at Microsoft. 7 years ago a Microsoft team visited the region to recruit enigneers for Redmond. At the time I was fresh graduate
and made my best however I failed.

Working at Microsoft was a always a dream for me, so I thank those who would like to give me some hints on how to prepare for MS interviews, they also can advise some books to help reshape my knowledge to what MS recruiters expect etc....
