MultiTenant Data Access (MTDA) S+S Blueprint Released
In this video, Michael Lehman talks with Eugenio Pace about the new Multi-tenant Data Access Software + Services Blueprint.   

The Multi Tenant Data Access (MTDA) Blueprint, part of the Software-plus-Services Blueprint program, provides guidance on writing a SQL Server based, single instance, multi-tenant data access layer similar to that used in LitwareHR sample application (SQL Server version).

If you have the S+S Blueprints manager installed you can get this Blueprint by updating from the RSS feed.

Turn Off Automatic Conversion of Office 2003 Projects into 2007 Projects
In Visual Studio 2008, when you open a Microsoft Office 2003 project, by default it starts the project migration wizard if you have the 2007 Microsoft Office system installed on your development computer. In other words, Visual Studio automatically tries to upgrade older projects to the version of Office that you have installed.

If you need to maintain the 2003 version of the project, you can turn off this default setting.[Click to read the full post ]

Create an Excel Shortcut Menu That Writes Selections to a Text File
It doesn't take much code to add a command to a shortcut menu in Excel, but the menu objects have strange names so it's not intuitive, to me at least. The trickiest part is just sorting out how it's supposed to work, because it seems like it should be different from adding buttons to toolbars, but it really looks like that's what you're doing.[Click to read the full post ]

Kurt Kennett: Recovering a Windows CE callstack after a jump-to-NULL
Kurt Kennett from the Windows Devices Core team gives us a quick video that demonstrates a useful debugging trick: recovering the source of a “jump to NULL” error on Windows CE.   This is a very useful trick for debugging programs that use function pointers.

First, Kurt shows how to develop a sample application on the Device Emulator that will produce such a crash.  Then he shows how to get our precious callstack back!
