With Windows Phone 8, it's more essential than ever that developers know how to properly express apps so they adhere to the overall look and feel of the phone. In this session, Andy and Rob introduce the Windows Phone design language and how to start designing an app; application structure and navigation models, getting started with XAML, understanding Themes and built-in control styles; new features in Windows Phone 8 to help you align controls correctly; how to generate design time data in Blend, an introduction to MVVM and databinding; ListBox and LongListSelector and designing list item layout templates.

These videos help me a lot
    Thanks guys

  • Download links are broken! Online video is low quality and "format" button works only in auto mode.

I have very fast Intenet channel, but "buffering" never stops if "format" setting is not set to "auto"

When i try to run the examples in Visual Studio I get "A specified communication resource (port) is already in use by another application" error. I can not seem to run any of them.

    2>Connecting to Emulator WVGA 512MB...
    2>Installing the application...
2>Deployment of application to device failed.
    2>The parameter is incorrect.

    Well I got it working.

When I extracted the projects they had a "%" in the path. (Example: Windows Phone 8 JumpStart Contoso Cookbook Step 1%2c Initial Layout\...) I removed that '%', opened solution, rebuild, deploy and it works.

I noted Andy was having trouble locating and placing controls inside grids. I prefer not to use grids at all, unless I am going to display spread sheet style data there is no need for grids at all. I replace the parent grid with a stackpanel and then nest stack panels inside the parent stack panel for horizontal and vertical flows. Works like a charm and I do not need to bother with grids for layout - which they were not really designed to do...

I would like to add a little more that the inventor of this technology should give their users all apps access like as in Symbian phone so we can install anything which we like.i have windows phone 8 but couldn't install themes in what type of themes is it support and what type of browser like opera mini? So kindly if anyone know about it guide me I will be very thankful to him.
