With FAS, applications stay in memory after deactivation, which makes resuming the application nearly instantaneous, greatly improving the end user experience. All you need to do to get access to using FAS, is to upgrade your project to target Mango, and recompile.</p><p>Right now, I can hear you thinking: &quot;that's great Larry, but how do I add fast application switching to MY application; what are the details you aren't telling me about?&quot;</p><p>Well, i'm glad you asked.       <title>Get to Windows Phone Mango #2: Adding FAS to XNA</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Get-to-Mango-2-Adding-FAS-9c5c5179">Code for this project</a></p><p>This is the second in a series of videos that will detail how to add Windows Phone Mango functionality to an existing Windows Phone application, step by step.</p><p>In our first sample, we modified an existing XNA game to leverage the new Silverlight / XNA integration available in Windows Phone Mango. This allows us to utilize the Silverlight paging model to very easily create a 'pause' screen, that users will get when they return to the application, (after they've navigated away).</p><p>Having to navigate away, of course, is a common occurrence on a phone; users receive phone calls, are have to pay attention to external events, (like the street light turning green, for example).</p><p>Getting the pause screen to 'work' of course requires more than just adding it in Silverlight. We need to implement tombstoning and FAS, (the whole point of this sample).</p><p>For more detail, see our video walkthrough on Channel 9 here.
