Have you ever tried explaining SOA to a business person only to see their eyes glaze over? Have you felt like you were speaking a different language that they could never understand? Guess what – they probably felt the same thing. There is a communications gap between business and IT but if only we could understand the business as a set of capabilities with clear interfaces and service level expectations. Perhaps then we could capture opportunities to improve the business which after all is the bottom line. Well that is the door that stands before you today. Motion is a new methodology from Microsoft for describing business capabilities. My guest today is Ric Merrifield – the motion strategy director. Now don’t sit back and say who cares about business mapping. You should care my friend because we all serve the business.
