I have to ask though why do some pages use site specific master pages while other pages use server specific master pages?<br>

I would have preferred ALL the master pages as site specific. This seems like a pain which could have been avaided.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>

 that states you shouldn't do that &quot;Do not edit the default.master file directly in the
<code>&lt;%System Drive%&gt;Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\GLOBAL\
</code>folder.&quot;.&nbsp; So now my installation is hosed, and I'm wondering why yours didn't break.<br>
