San Diego, California, based energy management software pioneer, Advanced Telemetry, wanted to embrace cloud computing so as to pass more efficient infrastructure cost savings on to its customers and improve its own bottom line. The company runs the cloud portion (web and middleware) of its EcoView software on the Windows Azure platform, enabling its business customers to better manage electricity consumption by dialing up usage during peak periods and scaling back during off-peak hours such as evenings, saving 10% or more on utility bills alone. Target customers include restaurants, convenience stores and retail outlets located in small buildings under 10,000 square feet.
