@Laura - if you're working in Microsoft, why are you using a phone from the carieer? I always thought, that MS employees can choose their smartphone and get if for free

Laura/Paul I was only talking about the Lumia 800/900 which got the recent firmware update to have the flip to silence. Try it with one of those!

I feel your pain on the short sleeves Paul, I have the same issue. The folks who make them seem to think you must be XXL in order to have long arms these days.

New logo looks good, but I'll miss the old one as it looked more "designed" where as this one looks more like someone just opened up Word and typed in Microsoft.

The new logo looks snazzy in a classic kind of way.

Fashion tip for Paul: roll the cuffs a turn or two. Not only does this hide the fact that the shirt doesn't fit right, it also make it look like you're working harder.

I like the new logo, it seems simple yet iconic and it resembles that of the Microsoft Store, which can't be a coincidence. Also, the "f" and the "t" still touch each other like in the old logo, so it's slightly modified from regular Segoe.

BTW everyone pronounces Segoe as Laura did, so I'd assume LAURA IS RIGHT. Paul always chooses the most random pronunciations for every word.

Actually, according to some people (incluiding Paul Thurrott) the red is Windows Phone and the yellow is Office, although the new Office 2013 has a dark-orange logo so... we really don't know. But the new Windows Phone logo IS red.

@IRB: I can confirm the Lumia DOES ring/vibrate no matter which side its facing... and you can flip it over to silence it, just as you would expect. You wont miss any calls for having the Lumia facing down.

I've tested this on both the 800 and the 900  

If you ask me, the newer MS logo is better, and I feel the opposite for the Windows logo. I feel the newer MS logo is better as it shows more design and has consistency with and represents Microsoft's major products. The Windows Vista/7 logo was better simply because it was more colorful and backlit in a way that made it look prettier.

I is a fool! I admit it! I tested it again this morning and my ringtone takes an age to kick in, so I think that is where I thought the no-ring came from. I hang my head in shame, well done mythbusters!

Maybe you can do an avatar kinect session after you receive all those kinects you are asking for!

I have mastered the steps you need to take in order to recreate the "phone upside-down not ringing" phenomenon.

1. upgrade your windows phone to the latest firmware.
2. ensure that you have set you phone to ring+vibrate (ring volume should be at 30)
3. press the power button continuously
4. when it instructs you to "slide down to power off" - do as it says! make a slide down gesture on your windows phone (critical step)
5. now, place the phone upside-down
6. call your phone

if you follow these steps to the letter, you will indeed notice that your phone does not ring or vibrate when it is called! This could also be the reason Laura has not been getting calls from Madonna.

I have got to say, my Samsung Focus S does not stop vibrating after I pick it up when it's ringing. Is there a setting that I don't know about or is this hardware specific?

Also, Laura.. since you're the Bing expert what happened to Bing Finance? I loved that site, and alas it has gone the way of the Dodo to be replaced by MSN Money. This nice thing about Bing Finance was how clean the site was. It's a shame now because MSN is nowhere as clean as Bing was. But I guess all good clean things will get dirty at some point. YUCK!
