RE: Sysinternals temp file sync: After you sync the folder, you could make the folder read-only. That would fail the temp file extraction and would redirect the file to %TEMP% instead. Not the easiest to thing achieve though as SkyDrive needs r/w access to the folder to sync - so you'd need to toggle r/o and r/w on each machine at each release.
I think its going to be easier to just accept the I/O hit (I do exactly the same thing and live with it).
Iexplorer.exe hangs until process is killed.
This seems to occur on Windows 8 as well (seen on two different laptops with different configuration/add-ons except for Flash).
According to "Analyze Wait Chain" from Task Explorer the "child" iexplore.exe waits to finish network I/O but according to Process Explorer there are no open connctions. Once the "child" iexplore.exe is killed, the parent exits as well.
Mostly this seems to happen when many tabs are open with Flash content.
@Emkay1001: I also saw it on Windows 8 after I emailed the show. I don't think it's happened since the last Flash update 11.6.602.180.
@Dax1792:Still occurs for me (all the latest updates installed).
Specifically this might occur on a system that is (say) not shutdown daily but put to sleep/hibernation. Looking at the stack of the thread that is supposed to be waiting (according to "Analyze Wait Chain") - there are no Flash Player functions on it (there are some Winsock functions, though). And that's pretty as much as I can make out of it
@Emkay1001: Yes. It just happened to me again. A strange thing was the back button stopped working on the page I was looking at. The drop-down from the back button shows countless doubleclick.net entries. Going back to the same webpage with a new instance of IE - no problem. I'll send the dumps to Gov.

For whatever reason I've seen similar behaviour once on Firefox Portable on Windows 8, too.

@MagicAndre1981: I can't see ntdll!NtReleaseKeyedEvent() in the stacks. The only thread that has not just issued some kind of wait has this

I remember a long time ago MagicAndre recommended an application that updates all the sysinternals tools automatically every time you run it if you want to. I have been using this app ever since. WindowsSystemControlCenter - http://www.kls-soft.com/wscc/
Then you can just put this program in skydrive and run it from there and that will enable you to update all the tools if you want. Try it out, it also includes all the Nirsoft utilities as well. It is a great utility that puts all the sysinternals together in one free app. I haven't noticed anything bad about it either, except that the command line tools open in their own command prompt.
Waiting For New Episode of Defrag
. I have still not been able to fix this OneNote Update KB2760600, everytime I reboot it hangs again.
@jgnetworksecurity: We talk about it on the Defrag show I'm posting today. Gov has gotten in touch with folks at Office and it is on their radar.
