Hey thanks guys for answering my question! I'm going to take a look tomorrow and see if I can come up with an update for you. Thanks to commenter above me too for posting the link.

  • David GarbaczDavid Garbacz

Just wanted to update you guys on the issue and an Event ID 41 is definitely logged with a 0 value for the BugCheck code. The system abruptly restarts so it looks like it can't write out a value to the system log in time for the restart.

I'm going to email a follow up log here just to make sure that is the case and you guys don't see something I don't. The KB posted above suggests a mem check, check the power supply, or overheating so I'm going to get some monitoring tools to make sure it's not overheating. I have a feeling the power supply is crummy.

Thanks for the response and look forward to next week's show!

run Openhardwaremonitor it gives you cool gadget to show temperatures.

Also bad RAM Timings can casue the issue. Run CPU-Z and check that SPD and memory tab show both the same values for the frequency that the RAM is currently running at.

    Thanks Andre. Much Aprreciated.

  • "We definitely like the back and forth"

    That's what she said.

  • I like the show. Watched all of them.

In regards to Windows 8. I would like to put out a man vs desktop challenge to Gov. Do an show using Windows 8 on your Laptop and see if all the viewers agree the desktop / laptop expirence is better now.

You can most likely sence I do not like windows 8 as a desktop user.

Can you dog food your product for one show ?

I expect you will need LOTS of metro blocks or more likely rely on text search to get to apps. I am finding it very hard to beat the windows 7 desktop enviroment in windows 8 preview.

  • Thanks for addressing my issue I know it's a wierd and rare problem (Gaming on MWB).

I'd love to hear any updates about it.

  • The game problem is caused by games that reset the mouse position to the center of their window/center of the screen every frame. This is done to get mouse movement without having problems when the cursor reaches the screen borders. They do it this way because it's not too easy to get correct acceleration data when using the Win32 mouse constrain APIs.
