The luminas (and all modern phones) use lithium ion or lithium polymer batteries. They don't have the memory effect like old NiCd batteries. It's perfectly safe to keep a phone plugged in all day and actually you can ruin a lithium based battery ability to hold any charge if you let it discharge too low.
