Talking about the old archive stuff I remember recording stuff off satelite back in the last Century.  I recall listening to Steve Balmer talking about Web Services allowing any tech to interface with any tech -What? I didn't believe it and booked up for PDC2000 to find out more. 

So it would be great if you could find some of the pre-channel 9 stuff and show it in the CH9 history channell!

Also there should be a definitive archive of all those Gates/Balmer funnies.

J: I said,"You f-". I said. "You code". I said. "You forking code". I said. "Who you forking calling 'can't' code?" 

C: Yeah, what did he say, code?

J: He said. "You forking code!"

C: Well, you forking code, who are you to say to him that he was a forking code?

J: Well, what d'you fo-, what d'you forking think, mate, I forking de-, defending my forking self, weren't I?

C: Well, no, he come up to you, call you "code", ...

J: Yeah!

C: ... that's fair enough, what he said, "you forking code",and you said back to him. "you forking forking code."

J: I sa-, well, ...

C: Well, whayt tdo you expect him to say back apart from, "You forking stupid forking code!"

J: Well, I don', I don't expect nothing, do I?

C: No

J: But the f-, the code come back with, "you forking code?", code.

C: Well, Christ, ...

J: I said. "You code?" I said, "You calling me a forking code ..

C: Yeah.

J: ... You forking-", I said. "You forking code"

C: Jesus Christ, yeah.

J: I said, "You-", I said "You, you forking code"

C: Yeah, what

J: I said, like that.

C: You said it like that, did you, ...

I feel that Channel9 website need to be windows phone 7 friendly. It is still very hard to nevigate with wp7 on channel9.

It's called marketing tactics, like drug-pimps, they give you a free taste of the goodness and when you want more well then you have to pay for it.

In the license / eula it say something like: you can't use it to make money. (only for personal use)
To me that is not free.

I don't know of those open source projects (i'm not a web developer) but i can guess they have a commertial version with more features and more support right ?
So just yet another way for them to lure you in.

• Bing ? it's not a program, its a very crapy clone copy of googles search engine.
• Skydrive is useless (buggy, slow download/upload speed, reads the uploaded content "virus scanning", right... ) like hotmail but for files
• Windows Live  Essentials - Most programs (i have not tried all) in that package are crap, i could list all the things they do plain wrong but its a waste since they wont fix it

Most of the items in that list i have not used myself so i can't comment on them.
But i can say that there are probably far better alternatives out there, that are free, open source and not made with an economical motive behind it.

I could go on but it would be a boring read and it wont change anything.

I would love to help microsoft fix those progarms but they are just not interested. ( Why waste money and time on the pseudo-free sample products, right ? )

I love to fix things, if i only had access to the source code,  a depressed-yearning-sigh

Ah thats interesting, guess they changed it...or i mixed it up with some other product
Still that version is very limited and not portable...nor does it support linux and cant be run on linux so windows is needed, it can't compile stuff that will on on linux either btw...


Open source projects:
Mhh your going to make me work for it eh ?

Ok, Both Orcharduses and ASP.Net MVC use .NET so .NET is required and i can't find any info on their sites about it running on linux .NET version so ergo you have to buy windows to run it.

I'm to lazy to look in to it but can you compile these projects on linux ?

Seems like both projects use visual studio 2010 and the express version might lack the needed stuff ( if i remember correctly ) so you have to buy a  visual studio version too.

So do you see where i'm going here ?

There is always something you have to buy to be able to use the "free" stuff.

It's like giving away free beer but you have to buy a beer glass to get the free beer.
