In this episode, Robert reviews a Windows 8 app he built. This line of business app provides the ability for employees to create and submit expense reports, and for managers to view and approve or reject them. Robert is joined by Nadine Fox of Macadamian, the design firm that helped create the app's user interface. Robert and Nadine cover a variety of topics, including navigation patterns, the use of app bars (including what buttons go where on the app bar), modal vs non modal data entry screens, notifications, and more.

great stuff! thanks!
Could you please share the PDF what Nadine shows in the video to make us able to take a look at the details?
Thanks for sharing this.
It will be possible to distribute such a business app without using the Windows Store?
thanks
@Horatio Nunez:Yes. Check out http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsstore/archive/2012/04/25/deploying-metro-style-apps-to-businesses.aspx and http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/04/19/managing-quot-byo-quot-pcs-in-the-enterprise-including-woa.aspx for more information on this.

What was used to create the mockups?
What was used to create the mockups? [2]
@Guilherme Defreitas & @emcconnell: The wireframes/mockups were created using Fireworks. The Dev Center provides "metro style" design assets that you can use - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh700403.aspx.
Great video. Nice to see another McGillian at Microsoft too!
What would be really cool if we could distribute this across the Web. Line of Business Apps across the Web.
Something like Silverlight !
Very nice! Loved share contracts, pinning secondary screens and the notion of content over chrome. However it would be nice to add gestures like, tapping twice to add items to expense report and drag and drop capability as you suggested instead of scrolling up and down often between section and app bar. Overall great stuff! and thank you for putting them together. Can't wait to build my first metro style app!
@boolean1:I agree. Those would be excellent features to add to a future version of the app. I am planning on it.
great stuff thx guys
This was a really great video. I thought I remembered you stating in the video that you would make the source available for us to download. When and where will this be done. Thanks
Outstanding Robert, exactly what I've been looking for! I'm actually designing and prototyping a MS LOB app right now (can't tell ya what one...yet). I've been searching all over wondering how others are dealing with some of the navigation and now I'm thinking I might scrap our current design and try something different. :)
Thanks again!

Great video, and explanation. There is still no info on when/where this will be publicly released?
Great video and good content as well as explanation.
Thanks for sharing
Great video and the best UI for line of business applications I've seen up to now. Do you think about posting the source or publishing the app as a demo in the Windows Store? (I would love to test the UI with touch on my brand new surface...)
Thanks for sharing the video
Great video! I find the app colors disappointing though :(
I wrote blog post that describes how we reimagined our business application UI for metro style
http://tinyurl.com/dy8yxpd
It's #1 top selling app in "business" category so I believe we did it right
好!!
