InfoPath 2010 and REST-enabling a WCF Service for Consumption

Sometimes it may be in your interest to REST-enable a WCF service and you may not know the steps to take to do this. In this video Microsoft MVP, Jimmy Rishe, Qdabra Software, provides guidance on how to modify a WCF web service to change it from a SOAP web service to a REST web service. This will allow dynamically retrieving data from the web service simply by changing the request URL, and without the need for SOAP protocols.

InfoPath 2010 Data Connections and Universal Data Connection (UDC) Files

InfoPath 2010 is the bridge that connects your data with your Office 365 business projects. Using the InfoPath Designer you can quickly create data connections to dynamically pull information into your forms. Convert these data connections into Universal Data Connections (UDC) files and you can even reuse them in all of your InfoPath forms. No need to recreate a data connection, just add a UDC. Best of all, UDC files help your forms function in the browser. In this video Miccrosoft MVP Patrick Halstead, Qdabra Software, provides an overview for using data connections and UDC files.

Using Relative URLs with the ServerInfo Class in InfoPath 2010

In this InfoPath 2010 video demo, Jill Anderson from the InfoPath test team introduces one of the newest members of the InfoPath Object Model, the "ServerInfo" class. She shows how you can use the members of this class to enable your form to submit data using a relative URL. This enables you to package a Site Collection as a WSP and move it to a new server. Add items to a SharePoint list using form code

In this video demo, Phil Newman, a program manager on the InfoPath team shows how you can write managed code in an InfoPath form to add items to a SharePoint list, and then publish this form as a sandboxed solution to SharePoint.

In InfoPath 2010, forms with code can now be published directly to SharePoint without requiring the farm administrator to approve and upload them! These forms run in a sandboxed environment which protects other resources on the SharePoint server from malicious code.

With InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010, you can create powerful data driven form composite solutions on your SharePoint sites. InfoPath gives you the ability to pull data from databases and lists, and create forms with data validation and conditional formatting. SharePoint Designer's workflows let you then design powerful multi-step workflows centered around the form collected data, building upon the out-of-the-box reusable workflows and even import workflow designs from Visio! In this presentation, you will see how these tools come together to design workflows and route forms across your organization for task assignment and approval, and also how you can reuse your workflows in other lists and libraries on your site.

This session is presented by Asif Rehmani during SharePoint Connections 2010 in Amsterdam.

Asif has been training and consulting on primarily SharePoint technologies since 2004. He is a SharePoint Server MVP and MCT.
