      <title> Immo Landwerth and Andrew Arnott: Inside Immutable Collections</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/b/andrewarnottms/archive/2011/08/30/immutable-collections-with-mutable-performance.aspx" target="_blank"><strong>Immutable Collections</strong></a>&nbsp;are a new set of immutable types for .NET. We covered the high level aspects of this new technology a few months back when <a href="http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/Erik-Meijer-Immo-Landwerth-and-Andrew-Arnott-Immutable-Collections-for-NET" target="_blank"><strong>Erik Meijer interrogated</strong></a> (in his friendly way) the PM of the project, <strong>Immo Landwerth, </strong>and the lead&nbsp;developer,&nbsp;<strong>Andrew Arnott</strong>. Since this time, they have received a lot of feedback (thank you!)&nbsp;and have also been busy refining and optimizing their code.       <description><![CDATA[<p>Channel 9 was invited back to <a href="http://yowaustralia.com.au/index.html" target="_blank">YOW!</a> this year and we had several excellent conversations with speakers (almost all of them!), just like <a href="http://channel9.msdn.com/tags/yow&#43;2011" target="_blank">last year</a>. It was great to get back to Australia and meet so many excellent developers and have the chance to geek out with so many industry luminaries. Huge thanks to the Godfather, Dave Thomas, and his amazing team for putting on such a great show and providing Channel 9 with first class access to speakers and the event. <br><br>Who better to start of this series than <a href="http://davethomas.net/index.html" target="_blank"><strong>Dave Thomas</strong></a>, the founder of YOW! and an icon in the software industry. Dave's the guy who invented Eclipse and was once a flag bearer for object oriented programming (he's since shied away from the &quot;objects always, everywhere&quot; philosophy. Dave is a developer's best friend and we love that. <br><br>Tune in and see what's on Dave's mind these days and learn a thing or two about YOW!, software engineering trends, and some big problems that face general purpose computing - for people or &quot;users&quot;, not just developers.       <title>BTC: Henry Sanders - More than an Engineer</title>
      <description><![CDATA[ <p>At the heart of every computer, every operating system, every problem, is an engineer.&nbsp; An engineer may not live the glorious rock-star life of your favorite musician, but it is through their efforts that the complex systems, that are more and more significant in our lives, are able to work.&nbsp; <br>&nbsp;<br>Often these engineers, as important as their roles might be in the systems that they oversee, will describe themselves as &quot;just an engineer&quot;.&nbsp; Perhaps that's sort of like Clark Kent describing himself as &quot;just a reporter&quot;.&nbsp; Today's guest might try to describe himself as &quot;just an engineer at heart&quot;, but we'll see that he is a lot more than that. <br>&nbsp;<br>Henry Sanders got his start at Microsoft in 1988, working on OS/2 and later Windows NT, which was a key turning point in Microsoft's history and its evolution of Windows.&nbsp; Core infrastructure, and often the networking stacks, is what Henry focused on.       <description><![CDATA[ <p><em><strong>Prof. Dr. Dieter Rombach</strong> studied mathematics and computer science at the universities of Karlsruhe and Kaiserslautern.&nbsp;Since 1992, he has held the chair for Software Engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern, and since 1996, he has&nbsp;&nbsp;been Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering in Kaiserslautern (FhG IESE).&nbsp; From 1984-1991, he was Professor of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, and from 1986-1991 he was Project&nbsp;Manager at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</em></p><p><em>Prof. Rombach's main research topics can be found in the area of &quot;Software Engineering&quot;, especially in methods for developing software with predictable quality, in quantitative methods for measuring and assessing software products and software processes, in languages and methods for developing and using explicit software process models, in process-based software development environments as well as in software reuse.
