(EN) Over the past decade, the complexity of technology has increased rapidly even as business demands continue to rise. Unfortunately, test organizations have changed very little in either processes or tooling, and many testers continue to pursue UI automation with little to no return on investment. To meet these challenges, test processes and automation tools need significant changes and improvements. In today’s more agile development environments, test teams need to play an active role, working closely with developers and business analysts throughout the application lifecycle.  In this session Michael Koster, Developer Sales Lead in Microsoft WE, shows us how Visual Studio can address these issues, with a focus on solutions built on top of the Sharepoint platform.

Delivering high quality software is a risky undertaking. Development and Quality Assurance Managers are in a tight partnership over the war against software bugs. Software quality issues not only delay the time to market for a solution while increasing costs, but they also delay the subsequent benefits to the business. In a business world of increasing focus on compliance and control, Development and QA Managers must balance the need for agility against the reality of quality control. High quality software is the outcome of applying the combination of sound methodologies, best practices and supportive tooling.

This session will outline how to deliver high quality software through Agile and will demonstrate how to apply its practices to your projects and having them supported through tools like Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.

Venkata Maruthi Tumuluri, Program Manager, presented an overview of the Windows AD Protocol Test Suite release at the 2011 Active Directory Windows Protocols Plugfest.    Maruthi demonstrated how to install and use the test suites, tools available from Microsoft for Interoperability Testing.  

The Research in Software Engineering team (RiSE) coordinates Microsoft's research in Software Engineering in Redmond, USA.

Datacastle Vice President of Quality Assurance Barry Preppernau talks with ISV Architect Evangelist Bruce Kyle about how he uses PowerShell in his day-to-day activities testing applications. He discusses how PowerShell works with Hyper-V to test on a variety of platforms, how PowerShell reports the results of the tests. In addition, Barry explains how PowerShell scripts have cut support costs during customer install.
