Expert to Expert: Gur Kimchi - Inside Bing Maps (aka Virtual Earth)

Erik Meijer and I paid a visit to Bing Maps infrastructure architect and Partner Development Manager Gur Kimchi for an Expert to Expert conversation about the design and architecture of Bing Maps. It takes some rocket science to process and coerce data
into accurate information representative of points of interest on planet Earth. How does Bing Maps work, at the deepest levels, in the cloud? Gur and team have created a very efficient back end system that computes and returns the information you seek when

Chris Pendleton - Virtual Earth Silverlight Map Control

Virtual Earth continues to evolve and support a very robust programming model which allows developers to create unique and interesting mapping applications. One of the most recent developments is that there is a brand new Virtual Earth Mapping control
which uses Silverlight for rendering. This provides for a far richer control which gives the developer almost unlimited potential in what they can do. In this episode I've got Chris Pendleton on hand to help us understand some of the benefifts of this new
control and show us some of its capabilities.

To see more about this control, you can check out the video of Chris' presentation at MIX09 here:
<itunes:summary>Virtual Earth continues to evolve and support a very robust programming model which allows developers to create unique and interesting mapping applications.

Check the Weather in Virtual Earth?

A recent blog post on Chris Pendleton’s site alerted me to a Virtual Earth feature that I wasn’t aware of – a 3D weather setting.
Webcast Virtual Earth - Einen Routenplaner in ASP.NETselber bauen

http://blogs.msdn.com/jansche/archive/2009/01/20/ve-codeclip-iii-virtual-earth-integration-und-positionsbestimmung.aspx

http://dev.live.com/tools/

Viel Spass!
