False alerts

* I do use gleams, however, I dont run messenger 24/7. I'm not exactly fond of the gleams either -- Abbie

* Frankly, I'd like to see an option to disable them completely. They seem inaccurate a majority of the time and only add more "clutter" to that clutter fest on messenger. There's enough stuff on messenger already (esp those irritating tabs). I love messenger, but it just seems to be crossing over into nothing more than an eyesore. -- Abbie
* My suggestion would be to not make the buttons tabbie, but more like sidebar tiles on messenger. Andre
* There is an idea! Make Messenger a Sidebar, and have sidebar plug ins!

Other suggestions

* the semagic client on LJ has a flashing tray icon to let u know a friend updated
* make the current alert system easier to use
* alerts for when someone comments in YOUR OWN space
