Importing Action XML Logs

What are Action XML Logs?

Action XML Logs are generated by the companion tools, OFC and VET. They describe any action that was taken on a file and any errors/issues encountered. After a companion tool is run, the action XML logs which were generated can be imported into the OMPM database for further analysis. These action XML logs are very similar to the logs produced by the OMPM scanner.

Why should I care about them?

For example, I try to convert a bunch of files, most work but some fail. I import the action XML logs and analyze the results in the OMPM database. I filter for the files that converted successfully and see that it is about 95%. I then filter for the remaining 5% which did not convert successfully. I see that some of the files were missing, some were password protected, and one was encrypted. If I care about those files, I can take appropriate action.

How do I import them?

The ImportActions.bat file in the Database folder of an OMPM installation image can be used to import action XML log files. Three arguments: Server name, database name, and path to log files
