What is Startup Cleaner?

Startup Cleaner is a new Start-time optimizer that monitors which applications are automatically run every time your PC boots and displaying a list of those apps which you rarely use. You can then remove these items from the boot process, speeding your PC's boot time and the overall performance of the system.

The OneCare Team's philosophy for the feature is to allow people to disable software that they do not use from startup. OneCare makes this decision simple for users by providing usage information and has worked hard to make the usage detection accurate unlike previous MS or competitor attempts at tackling this problem

How it works

As currently configured, you won't see any start-time recommendations until you've used OneCare for a week. (Microsoft may change this interval based on feedback)

Usage detection is based on servicing apps and OneCare is working on gradually expanding usage coverage so be patient if you don’t see all apps yet – feel free to provide feedback on this

If you feel that we are showing incorrect usage for an app then file a bug with the following title
*STARTUP CLEANER USAGE-startupitem.exe
*If there is an existing bug then just vote on it
*Bugs can be filed using the OneCare Feedback Form at https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/default.aspx?SiteID=168
