Bringing word back down to size


I've used Word for various things since '97 (mostly word processing :P ) and I can honestly say that I've only used about 20% of what I know Word is capable of, not to mention the stuff I don't know about. Its probably about time we had a 'Word Lite' at a very low price point with just the 25% most used functionality of Word. I don't know what that 25% is, but I am sure you guys do - RossJ

Tool Tips to Show Formatting


Wouldn't it be nice in MS Word 200x to be able to see what formatting was used in a tooltip? Say you have a document and it's headings are written in Times New Roman, Fontsize 18, Bold. If you hovered your mouse over it then it would show the text formatting ina tooltip just above or below or to the side of it.
I think i should make some screenshots or something. -- Jaz

Equation Editor
I have Word 97 which has the ability to add the Equation Editor icon in the tool bar but it is grayed out and unresponsive. If V97 does not support Equation Editor why do they allow you to try???
What version DO provide Equation Editor and are their any improvements for each?

Importing the text 1.1 from excel results in 1.100000000000001!

Hey Guys, Check this - i have cell in excel that contain the text 1.1.
I have a word document that contains a field that uses the excel document as it's data source.
Now, regardless of the cell type (general, number, text etc), when i do 'update field' in word, the value is alway imported as 1.1000000000000001. When i change the value to any other value, it imports correctly. Bug? I hope so because I cant figure it out. When I put another character such as a full stop or space after the 1.1 it works - why not plain 1.1? Am using Office SB 2003 fully updated.

Office word 12, Title/Subtitle style.

The recommended styles, which can be found in the styles dialog contain Title and Subtitle. While using the Title style and pressing enter(new paragraph) the style doesn't change to Subtitle. 'Style for following paragraph' should be set to Subtitle for the Title style in the default document template.

Office word 12, Cover Pages Templates

Some dev. from the office team shoud take a look at the Cover Page Templates, while applying one to an empty document some of them create unnecessary paragraphs or 'weird' templates.

Accent Triangle
4 paragraphs ending in a page break, and at the bottom 2 extra paragrahs. (Or should the document date not be on the template coverpage?)

Lines, Basic, Basic Accents
4 paragraphs and a page break on the cover page that probaly should not be there and at the bottom to many paragraphs.

Report, Shades, Triangles, Boxes, Stripes
1 paragraph after the cover page template that should not be there.
