Ofice 2007 has new file formats for Word, Excel and Powerpoint, based on industry-standard ZIP and XML technologies.  These formats were getting a lot of attention at the Office Devcon, where Bill Gates announced the Open XML Formats Developer Group in his keynote presentation.  This new group is comprised of big tech firms like Microsoft, Apple, Intel and Toshiba, government organizations like the Florida House of Representatives, and ISVs from around the world, and their goal is to provide a forum for the free exchange of information about how to implement the Open XML Formats.

Mauricio Ordonez, Doug Mahugh, Kevin Boske and Brian Jones discuss the Office Open XML file formats, the new www.OpenXmlDeveloper.org web site, and the kinds of things developers are looking to do with the new file formats.
