Diskeeper's HyperBoot Cuts Windows Boot Times in Half

Diskeeper, the company best known for their disk defragmentation software, recently announced that they’ve licensed their “HyperBoot” technology to PC manufacturer Asustek, makers of the Eee netbooks. The company claims that the new technology will cut the Windows boot time in half through optimization techniques which include physically remapping Windows boot data to keep it closer together on the disk, rearranging the order in which apps and service are loaded, as well as delaying the load of some services and apps until after the desktop appears.

And unlike some other boot-tweaking technologies, HyperBoot doesn’t just optimize the PC once – it will continue to re-optimize the PC as more apps are installed, preventing the typical slowdowns that occur with age.

The first version of HyperBoot was designed for Windows XP and conventional hard drives. Version two works with Windows 7 and solid-date drives (SSDs), too.
