Zune 4.5 Arrives

The Zune 4.5 firmware officially arrived on Monday. In this release, there are a number of new features, including expanded codec support and the new “smart DJ mix” option, for example. The Smart DJ feature lets you create an automatic playlist for your Zune HD based on a song or artist. Also new are personalized music recommendations based on listening history, the above-mentioned improved codec support and the ability to connect your Zune HD to a TV via the Zune HD A/V dock. Once connected to the TV, you can browse the Zune Marketplace, buy music, and stream music directly from your TV set.

To install the update now, connect your Zune to your PC and launch the Zune Software. Under Settings –> Device –> Player Update, click “check for updates” or “update.”
