SharePoint for Developers Part 5 - Custom content types, fields, and lists

Download

Right click “Save as…”

Kirk Evans demonstrates how to create a list instance, custom field type, custom content type, and lists based off those assets.  We will prepopulate lists with data, and use a feature receiver to delete lists programmatically.  This screencast walks through many of the capabilities of Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services version 1.3.  Visit Kirk's blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/kaevans.

  • Kirk, I like this series. I followed along on this one until 10:10. The AnnotationType I added in the previous step doesn't show in the drop down like it does for you. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 with VSeWSS 1.5

  • On review, I see my mistake. You say to use the List Definition from Content Type new item template provided by VSeWSS, but I missed that the first 3 times through and chose plain List Definition. Great stuff! I wish this was better documented because this is the only way I see to learn this. Shouldn't it be on MSDN, too?Angel

  • this is really good example with explaination. thanks kirke
