How do I download the videos?
- To download, right click the file type you would like and pick “Save target as…” or “Save link as…”
Why should I download videos from Channel9?
- It's an easy way to save the videos you like locally.
- You can save the videos in order to watch them offline.
- If all you want is to hear the audio, you can download the MP3!
Which version should I choose?
- If you want to view the video on your PC, Xbox or Media Center, download the High Quality WMV file (this is the highest quality version we have available).
- If you'd like a lower bitrate version, to reduce the download time or cost, then choose the Medium Quality WMV file.
- If you have a Zune, WP7, iPhone, iPad, or iPod device, choose the low or medium MP4 file.
- If you just want to hear the audio of the video, choose the MP3 file.
Right click “Save as…”
- High Quality WMV (PC, Xbox, MCE)
- MP3 (Audio only)
- MP4 (iPod, Zune HD)
- Mid Quality WMV (Lo-band, Mobile)
- WMV (WMV Video)
A new update for Windows Home Server was announced last night at CES. The update, called Power Pack 1 (formerly code named UR1) will ship in the first half of 2008 and hit servers via Windows Update. This update will include new Home Server connector software (this is the systray app that connects your computer to the Home Server), and the ability to backup your Home Server (for offsite storage for example), and several other new features.
Todd Headrick from the Home Server team invited us over to see all the new features and talk a little bit about Home Server. We'll connect with that team again while we're here and check out some of the Home Server hardware.

For me, this has been the best Microsoft announcement out of CES sofar. I love the cadence the WHS Team has in delivering updates/features. I'm still waiting on news on Vista Ultimate Extras. The reason is that I have a WHS and love it but unable to use the remote desktop capability because I'm using Vista Premium on our home computers. I don't want to spend $179/PC just for remote access. So unfortunately, I'll have wait until there is a more compelling Ultimate Extra. The only thing that I can imagine so compelling, would be a Media Extender client so I can streaming content from one centralized/configured Media Center PC to other PCs and extenders. Also looking forward to learn if there are any other car manfacturers looking to adopt Microsoft Auto. And lastly, hope to hear some news about playing Zune purchased content on Windows Mobile.
