How do I download the videos?
- To download, right click the file type you would like and pick “Save target as…” or “Save link as…”
Why should I download videos from Channel9?
- It's an easy way to save the videos you like locally.
- You can save the videos in order to watch them offline.
- If all you want is to hear the audio, you can download the MP3!
Which version should I choose?
- If you want to view the video on your PC, Xbox or Media Center, download the High Quality WMV file (this is the highest quality version we have available).
- If you'd like a lower bitrate version, to reduce the download time or cost, then choose the Medium Quality WMV file.
- If you have a Zune, WP7, iPhone, iPad, or iPod device, choose the low or medium MP4 file.
- If you just want to hear the audio of the video, choose the MP3 file.
Right click “Save as…”
- Mid Quality WMV (Lo-band, Mobile)
- MP4 (iPod, Zune HD)
Windows Vista SideShow technology enables laptop manufacturers to include a secondary or auxiliary display in future laptop designs. So, what does that mean? Well, you can quickly access the really important information you need like appointments, e-mails, or notes without turning on your laptop using Windows SideShow. Plus, it looks cool!

Great segment! Surpised I didn't see Xzibit on there! I would love to see this integrate with a cell phone, that would come in handy. As well as the remote integrating w/ DVR/Tivo features, heck just throw some spinners on it to make it supe duper fonky fresh.

It seems the combination of easy to use and quick access to important data will make these products very marketable. The possibilities could be endless with regards to the functions served with these SideShow devices when integrated with the Vista OS. And the cell phone idea makes perfect sense of course as would a PDA device that is Vista based with perhaps a mobile edition of the OS. Very interesting...

I'm glad you guys created this, it is truely wonderful. Something cool and functional. Hopefully this does NOT add to the cost of the laptop.

Cool gadgets! I particularily like the first one. A small screen/interface seems fine to me... not so sure about attaching an iPod to a laptop. Not very esthetic IMO. The remote seems almost futuristic (in concept), I hope it comes out soon.
BTW, I preferred when our lovely hosts would start as the camera rolled as opposed to the chatting before the segment begins, as in the latest videos. Just some minor constructive criticism.

Why not just make a way to tranfers your data via wi-fi to your phone; that thing is just something else to lose.

I've been waiting for a secondary display in notebooks that is a docked music player and cell phone for a couple of years now, so this segment really amused me. I really believe integrated technology is the future. Apple had discussed the possibility of pursuing this very same idea several years go shortly after the original iPod was released, but they never went very far with it. They are, however, very interested into integrating an iPod into a phone and PDA.
That remote looks really cool, but it is a bit large. I'm surprised no one has taken advantage of micro displays for that idea already. Tina was right, it would save a few marriages too!

Can you use the SideShow on the current laptops and tablet out on the market today. Because this would be good. I already have 2 palmtops on the go and it would be great to have the sporty one added to my laptop/tablet.
