Welcome to the very first episode of ShutterSpeed the Channel 10 Digital Photography and Imaging Show.

On each episode of ShutterSpeed we'll help you understand your camera gear so that you can take better photos and show you new and cool ways to edit, share and display your images.

In this first episode Tim GreyMichael PalermitiBill Crow join me in the studio to discuss online video storage and photo editing tools. We also get back to basics and talk about the principles of photography and what to look for in a digital camera.

I also visit the home studio of award winning photographer Phil Borges. Phil shows me the equipment he uses in the field - including his home-made lighting rig - and talks about some of the techniques he uses to capture his magnificent portraits.

We hope to make ShutterSpeed a regular series here on Channel 10. For comments on the program or ideas and suggestions for future episodes please email us at shutterspeed@on10.net

On10 is getting better all the time. I liked that allot.

I like taking panoramas (especially now that Photoshop CS3 finally has a useful stitching function) so hopefully you can find someone as skilled as Phil Borges who likes to take panoramas and ask them how to get the best results.

Thanks Nick and crew for getting this this terrific show off the ground.

The info presented was clear, concise VERY helpful and it was great to hear Phil Borges talk with such laid-back but clearly passionate ease about the "little hobby" he has turned into an excellent Gobal Program. Digital photography to get young folk in remote areas to capture their own stories and post them online? Small steps toward changing the world for the better by putting the power of stroytelling in the hands of those who live the story, too...

Similarly, great shows like this one... I look forward to the next, and hope it follows a similar format; tips, tricks of framing, lighting etc as well as "what this little lens does..."

    Keep up the good work

I find Photoshop CS3s stitching to be better than WL Photogallery but I was impressed with it when I tested it out a while ago.

I find that Smoky City Design Panorama Factory is even smarter at stitching but most of the time it's just easier to use Photoshop.

Yeah, I thought of Mike Swanson too. I'm guessing he'll be on this show eventually.
