Microsoft Flight Simulator X is the latest installment of the highly acclaimed flight Simulator Series from Microsoft. I love flying so much I thought how can I not cover this game. Pilots use it and gamers play it. I talked to the crew who put it all together and here are their thoughts on the new title. I'm also including the system requirements because it's bringing some serious juice. Enjoy!

Damn, Tina...I love you. Two aviation posts within a week! This is just great! I grew up playing Microsoft flight simulator with my dad and have been waiting for this since Laura's pilot software segment back when 10 launched. Flight Simulator means a lot to me. I was expecting Laura to cover FSX eventually, so hearing you behind the scenes was a treat.

It's absolutely amazing how far flight sim has come since it launched. I remember when my dad got the first one for Christmas over a decade ago (I bought him FSX Delux for Christmas this year). Every version has extended the number of aircraft and airports worldwide. I would like to see the virtual Earth 3d software utilized in Flight Sim. Could you imagine the level of detail available? I'm also pleased to see that the developers have been designing and marketing the simulator more like a game. Simulators run the risk of becoming boring very quickly and people loose interest.
Does anybody at 10 remember Space Simulator back in the early 90s? That was an enjoyable game (it ran on DOS). I've always thought Microsoft should develop "Aerospace Simulator". You get the best of air and space that way. Pity space sim never really took off. Why not try "Transportation Simulator"? Plains, Trains, cars, and boats all in one game! That would be a hell of an undertaking but not impossible what with Train Simulator and Midtown Madness.
Oh...and could somebody at Microsoft please bug the flight Sim team to include a blimp in the next version. I've been dying to try one of those for years without having to hit up Simviation for add-ons.
Thank you Tina, this was great...and a nice surprise coming from you. Good details and all. May all your flights be safe and enjoyable.
