America's Army: Special Forces (Overmatch) (SMU GH Map Pack) Launches Today
Today, the U.S. Army and The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University announced their release of the America's Army: Special Forces (Overmatch) (SMU GH Map Pack) for download at the America's Army game website. The SMU GH Map Pack, provides America's Army players with four new missions created by students at Guildhall under collaborative partnership with the U.S. Army.
Since it was first released in July 2002 America's Army has consistently remained one of the top-ten action games played online, gathering a following of more than 8.1 million registered users within the United States and in over 60 different countries. These players have invested 200 million hours in the Game exploring Soldiering from Basic Training to operations in the Global War on Terrorism.
And the game is FREE. Come on people. Let's join the Army!

I'm afraid it's a little late for that now. Well, not really, but I enlisted in the Air Force right out of High School for two years, and then I went reserve in which I still serve today.
This makes me wonder whatever happened to Jane's USAF game in the late 90's. I remember all the buzz surrounding America's Army on G4 in late 2002 and well into 2003. I was never particularly interested in the title, but I would agree that it has been one of the best action and advocacy titles ever marketed, and the fact it it has held up these 5 years is a credit to the developers and the recruiters who first dreamt it up.
I'm always pleased when additional maps and missions are added to older titles on the computer. Computer based software programs lend themselves to additional downloaded content, but I've always been a little weary of this practice on consoles. I would prefer a standard system of complete disc content or completely downloaded titles. I'm not sure what it is about mixing these formats, but it bothers me.
