How do I download the videos?
- To download, right click the file type you would like and pick “Save target as…” or “Save link as…”
Why should I download videos from Channel9?
- It's an easy way to save the videos you like locally.
- You can save the videos in order to watch them offline.
- If all you want is to hear the audio, you can download the MP3!
Which version should I choose?
- If you want to view the video on your PC, Xbox or Media Center, download the High Quality WMV file (this is the highest quality version we have available).
- If you'd like a lower bitrate version, to reduce the download time or cost, then choose the Medium Quality WMV file.
- If you have a Zune, WP7, iPhone, iPad, or iPod device, choose the low or medium MP4 file.
- If you just want to hear the audio of the video, choose the MP3 file.

I like it, especially that it can crash programs more elegantly... lol 3D-ish scrolling windows are cool.

Actually, I really have no problem with XP but damn does Vista look fantastic! I can't wait to get this and finally tell all those Apple freak kids who are around me to take their OSX and stick it. Mac users make me want to hurt people, for the most part, they are SO ANNOYING. Holy hell, 3D!! Oh 10 why do you tease me like this soooo. January 2007, damn it, I want Vista now

There is no doubt that this will be a genuine improvement upon XP in many regards, but I will hold off final judgment until spending some quality hands on time with Vista. I am really digging the new GUI as well and I guess it will be time for a new high end PC come January! Just what I need another reason to spend money... lol

Agreed, Apple fanatics are damn annoying, but I will tell you that OSX is a far more stable and dependable operating system. As usual, Microsoft is relying on eye candy and media to push its software. Can you say 360?
BTW...I'm not saying that Apple is better, but I've had no problems with mine. I made the jump to Macs for work a few years back because I had nothing but problems with Windows based machines. I still, however, game on my PC with windows. Good times.

I´m really looking forward to this! User interface is something that I really appreciate and Vista seems to be heading in the right direction in that deparment. Graphically it looks awesome. Pitty we still have to wait so long.

But not revolutionary. I think it's time to completely throw the whole GUI and user interaction upside down and start building an OS from scratch based on user feedback. Don't think within the limits of the current Windows-based OSes either, I mean, listen to what people are saying they want, and then come up with fresh, new ideas to give them what they want.

Looks slick but i'm curious what the system requirements will finally be? I've seen and heard it's going to require at least 1gb of ram recommended and 2gb preferred? Now for most of us gamers that won't be a problem but for the average user this will be. Also I heard there's going to be 7 different versions of Vista?

I'll always be a PC person but I must say the new Macbook Pro Intel based Mac is quite nice. I primarily use my PC for music production and gaming and the macbook pro for work related stuff but I'm thinking about moving over all of my audio and video editing app's to the macbook. OSX is nice and it's stable.
Looks like Vista may be along the same lines....let's hope! =)

OSX is more stable because there is so little variation in both the hardware and software that interact with it.

All of the games appear in the same place, which I find nice. Also Vista will go out to the internet and grab info on it, like the game rating for use in parental controlls. I'm sure there's more, but I forget.

As far as eye-candy is concerned I wish they'd play a little more with the way the windows open up. I really liked how the SGI stations would open windows (buttons or whatever they were called) The way it was animated, where it flipped around in 3d while expanding was bad arse. (or at least at the time i though it was really cool, things sometime aren't as cool as you remember...... anyway) I think they had the screen shots in Jurassic Park and something like it in Lawn Mower man. Something like that would be cool while needlessly hog processing power. I DON'T CARE... I WANT FLIPPY WINDOWS.

Actually, I am really looking forward to the enhanced integration between the Vista OS and the 360. With Vista's built in Media Center component the 360 will be even better with regards to being a media hub. I know current Media Center PC owners have this advantage already, but including Media Center with Vista is a great idea.

Not so fast...Glass reportedly will (maybe already does?) work on Intel Integrated 950 series chips. I'm not sure if it's only a certain model number of those though, so don't quote me on that. Just remember that there will be integrated graphics capable of running Aero Glass.

I know this is a MS-owned website and apologize for pointing out the "Emperor is naked" but:
Wow, looks like Vista will be emphasizing aesthetics over functionality the way Apple has been doing for years...great, guys, I don't think PC users are going to appreciate the Macintrash modus operandi for gaming/productivity/office use.
So how will this OS benefit casual users and office personnel that just want to use standard office apps...without being forced to upgrade their machines to they can deal with all of the pretty 3D candy-coating?

What does the "fix xp" mean? XP works fine for me for a long time especially with SP2. XP is shaping its perfect form and another overhaul is needed. Vista is coming to help. Sweet!

I'd have the same problem with mine. I gave up on gaming half a year ago because of all the insane requirements. It would be nice to win that pimped out rig. Pitty. I think we all know who will. *sighs*

I guess you've never visited a website and had a virus utterly decimate your computer? Not only was there an anti-virus application running, Firefox was also the browser used while the infection occured.
An OS should NOT be that comprimised by a mere visit to a website. There needs to be less ability for maliscious software on the internet to interact with OS-critical files. Ever had a virus embedd itself in your "System Volume Information" folder? Ya know: the folder that the admin running the OS doesn't even have access to but a virus does? Inherent design flaws that need to be remedied, if you ask me.

I was disappointed to see features that have been adopted by Apple MAC OS ages ago, with the funny gadget thingy which looks like yahoo widgets
widgets.yahoo.com . I am the only guy that supports windows in my company where all management now uses Mac OS, and looking at this video makes me feel that I should also switch to Mac OS, hence I will always be ahead in technology which MS is going to pick up in 2 years time

Can MS concentrate more on security issues caused due to having much more market share then Mac and not be bothered about replicating MAC look and feel.

What happens is that even a user in the Administrators group don't run with Admin rights when they login. This means the applications they launch can't do things like write to program files, system directories for parts of the registry. If an application wants to do something administrative it must request elevation. This in turn shows a secure dialog that asks the user if they want to run the application with higher rights.

Look and feel is one thing but the search and usability is very cool. The live preview pane is killer. I will upgade without question.
