Today's project is one that is meant to help you build your own Kinect projects, one to save you a few minutes of drudgery and to get you coding quicker. For every project you start, there's common stuff you do every time. You add this reference, you set type property property, etc, etc. And if you're doing it every time, think about all the other developers doing the same thing. The one and only Dennis Delimarsky did think about that, and then took action! Kinect Contrib... I decided to take this a bit further and implement some extensions for it, making the SDK even more productive. This project is a bit different from Coding4Fun Kinect Toolkit and will implement functionality that will make it easier to integrate it with XNA and Windows Phone applications. So to say, the focus areas of KinectContrib are: Provided an easy-to-use diagnostics library that can be used to quickly test the Kinect sensor. Provide XNA integration capabilities (e.g. bone management) Provide Windows Phone integration capabilities (e.g. data transformations) The first step was already made - I created some Visual Studio 2010 project templates for Kinect SDK. As long as the SDK is installed, those make it really easy to create applications that take advantage of any of the Kinect sensors. ... Visual Studio 2010 TemplatesCurrently we are providing templates for C#, F# and Visual Basic projects. ... Project Information URL: http://dotnet.dzone.com/articles/initiative-extend-kinect-sdk & http://kinectcontrib.codeplex.com/ Project Download URL: http://kinectcontrib.codeplex.com/releases Project Source URL: http://kinectcontrib.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets Contact Information: Blog: http://dennisdel.com/Twitter: @DennisCode
