  • Official beta of Visual Studio 2005
  • "Express" versions of Visual Studio, customized for web development, VB, C#, C++, J#
  • "Express" version of SQL Server 
  • MSDN Product Feedback Center, aka "Ladybug"

See the eWeek story for more leaks.  And here's why Channel9 should be excited:

#1. The Express product lines are specifically aimed at "students and hobbyist developers".  I think this should answer a lot of the requests we've seen before on Channel9, about providing cheaper versions of both Visual Studio and SQL Server.

#2. Ladybug sounds like a seriously cool community-oriented way to give feedback on developer products.  Maybe it can take some of the load off the product feedback pages on the Channel9 wiki?

* this is the first time i heard of this - but if it will allow people that no alot about webstuff - to play around with code bots - that do stuff then thats great

count on MS to provide these middle tier levels
* Linux camp is all "RTFM"!!!

More details from CNet (datelined 9pm PST, so they were clearly embargoed until midnight east-coast time!):

- The free version of SQL server will be limited to 1 proc / 1GB RAM / 400GB disk
- Express versions of tools to be priced in the "tens of dollars" range
- Aimed at the 18M nonprofessional developers, rather than the 6M professionals

And it's out!  Download the new Express editions of Visual Studio from http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/, and check out the new product feedback site at http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/

Here's some more details about the product feedback site:
-        search through list of known issues
-        filter searches by product, version, age, and many other criteria
-        track status of multiple bugs & suggestions from a single page
-        get email notifications when bug/suggestions you filed are fixed/changed
-        "track" others' feedback to get notifications even if they aren't your issues
-        read & post workarounds for bugs and suggestions before they're implemented
-        integrated with the new, personalized VS2005 Developer Center (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005)
