Can anyone near the PDC tell us if you guys are affected?

...and we thought the BSOD when Bill Gates was demoing the USB scanner was funny Wink

Now the whole convention center is going to go into the dark when he boots up a Vista box.

I'm sure the convention center has backup power of some sort.  I'm in Santa Clarita, about 45 minutes north of PDC-central and I've got power.  I'm listening to local radio and they say the outage is pretty widespread.

We had a 40 minute outage. Ths has meant that most pre-con sessions have lost 45 minutes although at the moment they seem to be planning on just running later than planned rather than cutting session content.

That was all due to Red Team infiltrating through ventilation shafts from the roof of the convention center. The Blue Team cut power to allow the Red Team to blend in with the PDC05-ites after successfully passing security from their rooftop starts.
And they said it was sold out...

I'm still only halfway there. My Manchester flight was late leaving which messed up my connection at Chicago. I'm waiting 3 hours in Concorse L, and theres no WiFi to be found! I thought you guys had it everywhere by now!

Yegads!

My Californian Co-Lo'd server isn't responding to incoming ICMP Ping nor HTTP GET packets.

Erk...

So much for "reliable" datacenters having backup power supplies.

I'm the video guy

I was out on Alvarado (about a 15 minute cab ride from the convention center) having lunch with the, um, a secret team that's coming out tomorrow with a cool thing, and the power was out there. Tons of fire trucks and police went by and news helicopters were overhead.

Of course, what do the geeks do? Pulled out their cell phones and started hitting all the news sites. Drudge had it pretty fast, by the way.

Power is back on here at the convention center, by the way.

It might be something between you and the datacenter... like an internet provider.

I can just picture a power cut at the Bill Gates keynote at PDC 2005 tomorrow and picture him just keep on talking away.

It would be funny for Bill to hit the power button on a Vista machine and the power goes out.
