Basically the ESRB is doing a massive audit of games for hidden extras that caused the hotcoffee scandal, and then this fun little line comes along.

Finally, the ESRB addresses third-party 'mod' content which could potentially change the game's suitability, but was not inserted by the game's developer, commenting: "ESRB remains concerned about third party modifications that undermine the accuracy of the original rating, and we are exploring ways to maintain the credibility of the rating system with consumers in light of modifications of this nature."

I'm off to write an email to the ESRB letting my feelings being known to them.

My mod color is red
I edited your title (used to be "Mod's about...") to reduce confusion. With all the recent talk of moderators, not everyone equates "mods" with "game modifications" Smiley

This will be the sixth time we have destroyed it and we have become exceedingly efficient at it
I suggest something similar to the "Game experience may change during online play" phrase added to all online games. "Game experience may change with the use of game modifications or mods"

On a related note, we once contemplated calling our Halo clan "The Experience Changers" but then just settled on Team Winner.

WOOH! WOOH!
Video game sexual content seems poised to be the hot-button issue in the next presidential election. Senator Clinton is testing the issue. Will it bite? They're sure pressuring the ESRB to heck. Modders shouldn't worry at all, in my mind. It's like podcasts are outside the influence of the FCC because it's not a broadcast medium. Neither is installing a mod. They're just covering their backside.... showing the feds, who's threatening to regulate the game content labeling, that they're doing something.

I haven't played GTA:SA, but apparently, you can perform decapitation w/out any problem. But getting some action is abhorent from the Puritanical crowd. Sigh.

I say just go for "Game experience may change during play".

I paid for static images on a cardboard box, and I'll be damned if they change my play experience to moving animations! With sound! On a computer!

That is what is strange in the US. Why is violence OK, but not something that helps sustain the human race? Both are natural human traits, but violence is not the controversial one.
