Now that apps can be drawn completely vector based in a 3D space - it would seem that we are closer to getting those cool 3D hologram displays you see in the movies.

3D could also open up innovation for selection devices that go way beyond the mouse. The current mouse being based on a 2D input model - x and y movements. With the new 3D drawing model, input devices would be better if they could express z axis movement too. Maybe a hand-movement-detection system (like a glove) would be better than a mouse in the 3D world.

Hmmm... If we would have some 3D display where we can touch everything with the hand and move it with the hand that would be great. Any other 3D input device seems to be very difficult to handle...

Those already exist, a few of them did attempt to sell directly to gamers and consumers, but they weren't very sucessful (mainly due to high prices and the effort involved in holding a hand in mid-air for hours at a time). However "3D Mice" are still sold to the CAD/CAM market.

Basically we need TactaPad for 3d space. Check out these videos.
