I've been pretty excited about the PDC videos and I'm glad to see they're finally released. Now that they're here, I can't say I'm impressed with the 3.13 KB/Sec throughput and the twelve hour ETA for a 136MB presentation. I know MS can't embrace Bittorrent, but nothing makes more sense for such a large distribution. If I had one wish this holiday season, it would be that MS would put aside its political views on Bittorrent and allow us to share and seed these videos.

You will never know success until you know failure
I was using a Mac today to download the videos, good stuff folks.  Thanks.

RE Beer

Mac OS X is a better UNIX than Linux ever will be, you may want to consider a switch.
Is there some magic to get this site to work with IE7 Beta 1?  For me clicking on any link (Data & Systems, for example) just sits there with an hourglass.  Firefox doesn't work either.

edit: Can't be for sure but there looks to be several issues with the presentation hosting.

All the gigabytes of zip seem to share the same bottleneck and some of the streamed content may also share that. Another issue is, while the streaming video seemed to play fine if you got it to start, now it just doesn't seem to work anymore. I was watching the LINQ session and after 20 minutes it simply didn't play any further than that - as if the video stream server went down or something.

They probably have their hands full Smiley I guess MS or the vendor saved $ome or didn't expect so much interest. Doh!

HOW did you figure that out?  The real question is, what color? See if you can identify all the vets listed in Beer's home town, and then...

Edit: Oh wait.  Here it is.

Short term memory issues, Beer? How did you ever become an elite hacker? Most hackers have very long memories.

Beer, you also messed up a few weeks ago (before your Sitespaces site used a proxy) on whois.net when you listed your home address. NO, I did not copy/paste it either.  I could care less. But since you've recently become the Perry Mason of Intellectual Property Law...I guess it must have been a temporary oversight.
I'm still working with the vendor and the hosting provider to rectify the response issues everyone is seeing. It seems that we're only using a fraction of the available bandwidth, and the streaming server is humming along nicely (which is why you can watch the video just fine once it starts). It's the HTML delivery that appears to be slower than expected.

This is going to sound nuts.

Turn off the popup blocker.

Once I did that it was fine.
Any idea on when we will be able to get it faster then 2.66kb/s ?
