My mod color is red

We've opened it up to everyone, according to CNET. Anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall, and system tuning, all from a web page. Although my advice is not to try the full-system virus scan "just because you can", at least not if you're already got a reputable anti-virus software installed. I mean, it's neat that the thing runs from a web page, but it still brought my old machine to its knees Smiley Yay for a functioning Cancel button!

There's a OneCare team blog at http://spaces.msn.com/members/windowsonecare/

Yeah I installed on my laptop today. How does it's firewall compare to the windows firewall?

Are there problems with Microsoft's internal communication systems/policies? It doesn't seem right for employees to know about their employer's actions from 3rd party news sources.

Fatalism.
Windows OneCare is a nice product - potentially - but not for people who like to have "control" over what's happenong their machines. It's more for people who don't want to think about security, at all.

I'm not too impressed with it, but it's not aimed at me so I'll reserve judgement.

Why?

Besides, that just means he can talk about it.
Bummer can't install it thru Firefox, must use IE to install it.  Is there a way that I can download it at work (higher speed connection) then home (dial up connection)?  Also can I install it on different computers or just one?
Subscription Sad

I suppose they have to make people pay for it, otherwise the law is coming down on Microsoft.

Also I had to manually add Firefox to the firewall before I could connect to anything.

So what exactly can I do with One Care?
No OneCare beta on http://ideas.live.com.

Just Live.com beta, Windows Live Mail beta, Windows Live Messenger beta and Windows Live Mobile Search - beta.

Am I missing something?

Think: Microsoft's answer to Norton's Internet Suite.

I got in on the beta earlier and installed it on my mother's machine. It actually zapped a virus before it hit her computer, so the annoying cost of having to sign up for the beta already paid for itself.

Its spiffy, quiet, and always works in the background, so its great for her. Wink

I see Live.com beta, Windows Live Mail beta, Windows Live Safety Center beta, Windows Live Favorites beta, Windows Live Messenger beta, Windows OneCare Live beta, and Windows Live Mobile Search beta.

My bet is that they're filtering content based on the market, i.e. OneCare beta isn't yet being pushed in the UK.

So open proxies all around then Big Smile
