Maybe I'm not understanding the big deal...
The goverment is asking for...
Search Engine Watch"In particular, the Bush administration wanted one million random web
addresses and records of all Google searches for a one week period. The
government apparently wants to estimate how much pornography shows up in the
searches that children do."
C|NetEPIC's Siy said AOL and MSN should have fought the government's demands
more vigorously. "In not doing anything to protect the privacy of their
customers they are not doing the right thing," he said. "They are
taking the easy way out."
So they want 1 million random web addresses...and Googles searches for 1 week...along with everyone else...to estimate how much pr0n shows up in searches.
Maybe as a parent I would be concerned and want them to do this...
They aren't asking for IPs, they aren't asking for Logins, they aren't asking for cookies to be placed, they aren't asking for anything except for what they could get for themselves.
Sooooo, either they can start gathering this information "The goverment way" and really make a deal about it...OR...they can get random stuff.
Then again I work for a company that tries to protect children from these things so maybe I'm crazy...
