Need Microsoft SUX now!
I use online book services. I have had great success with Safari.oriely.com and Books24x7.com at different times. Currently with Safari. They both offer different stuff with some overlap but can be cheaper than buying tech books outright. Safari has more services like 5 PDF chapters download per month but I like APRESS,which Books24x7 has.

I guess why I am posting this information: I cannot see why I would hang on to enough physical tech books to want to catalogue them. Most books seem to have a shelf life of 6 months to 2 years. I seem to outgrow the book, my job focus changes, Google is a better reference book, or it is obsolete. Usually whenever that stuff happens I chuck the book or give it away. The holding area is usually kept to 3 to 10 books.

Online books services give you all you can eat mentality. If a books sucks your not out a sum of money. You can read several authors take on a topic. Etc. My company has always let me expense it. Maybe pursue that as an option.

My company provides access to a huge digital library.

and I hate it.

I can't read it on the train. I can't read it in the toilet. I can't scribble over the pages.

Books are meant to be physical damnit!

why is the (apologetic and defensive) Rossj recommending this Mac product called delicious in most of his posts ?

Because Digital Hoard is a direct rip off of Delicious Library. Its not even subtle copy you're even using the f'in OSX theme, THAT'S why I mentioned Delicious Monster - on top of the fact that some people here including the Original Poster DO have Macs.

I've got no problem with someone promoting their product here if it is in response to a query like this one, but please please please try and be original - every book manager I've seen on Windows looks like it has taken more than inspiration from DM. Be original, don't copy and I'll stop moaning.

HA HA HA....HO...HO..HO...!!! Look who is talking....!!!Smiley:)

guys your type don't want to see any windows program do better than ur mac program.

Digital Hoard succeeds where Delicious fails. If u r so confident about ur mac program then why r u scared of digital hoard.

Are the digital hoard guys selling more than your employer and that is why u r so bitter ? well i got news for u. Digital hoard runs on a windows which has the market share. so it is bound to happen sooner or later."

By the way i looked at the Delicious gui and knew immediately it was a rip off of iTunes & similar mac products, they haven't done anything new. just recycle the same old stuff & a lot of hype.

I will give u this much, digital hoard seems inspired by iTunes and hence the similarity.

but what do i care, it seems to be doing what it claims. there is nothing wrong with that.

BTW Rossji do you know your Logo(icon) next to your name is a direct lift from Delicious Library monster.. isn’t!

So What should i think about you, a paid promoter or a pure fan of Digital Hoard like me!Tongue Out:P

What on earth is , anyway? Is it some sort of markup to signify that a word is spelled annoyingly?

It's a bad cut and paste from Word usually.

I have tried Digital Hoard, want me to count the ways its not worth a second look?

1) you can choose one database at at time, so for every search you get to change it again and again till you find your product - if you do, and thats a big IF, both when it comes to books and DVDs.

2) the webcam recognition is the pits - to put it mildly

3) the ISBN search is also the pits, won't find most of the books around, even with isbn. Books I have no problem finding in amazon itself.

4) the wishlist doesnt work

5) editing your own book is a pain in the a**

6) it won't find DVDs, even those fairly recent, by title.

I don't mind people pushing their products, they should at least work thouh.

Hey even Libra (which also has problems finding most books) is free and definitely better than this ahm software.

I can't really believe the people at digital hoard expect people to pay for this.
