We just refreshed the IE7 preview build. You can read more about it on the IEBlog at http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/03/20/555703.aspx

This is essentially the latest and greatest IE7. About a week ago we forked this build off our main development branch and stabilized it for the MIX06 release.

Due to some last minute bug finds & fixes, this is actually newer than the build burned on the MIX06 CD - hence the .5 minor build number.

There are a ton of good bug fixes in this build, including the problems with the HTML editor causing problems with things like the C9 post editor.

Stay tuned to the IEBlog for more news.

W-hat?
Can I install this onto the x64 version of Windows, and why exactly isn't it possible to create 64bit builds for the previews?

Just finished installing it. Gonna start testing some of my sites now.

Thanks guys!

I'm an avid cyclist - I cycle about forty-five minutes every day and do strength training on off days. I have a resting heart rate of 60. I suggest you start taking better care of yourself - it does wonders for your cardio-vascular system. Might get you some members of the opposite sex too.

WOOH! WOOH!
Where's the IE 7 Beta Preview uninstall again? Can't find it in Add/Remove.

Edit:
Add or Remove Programs / Windows XP - Software Updates / IE 7 Beta 2 Preview

Odd, it still says version "7.0.5296.0" if I go to About Internet Explorer.

I could have sworn I uninstalled the old version of IE7 Beta2 Preview using Add/Remove Programs and installed the new version from the site...

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

I just installed it in Virtual Server (can't install it in my real Windows since I use x64).

The bug "incorrect width for absolutely positioned box with padding" (repro page, screenshot with 5296, connect feedback ID 39673) appears to have been fixed.

The bug "unnecessary horizontal scrollbar when right-floated italic text is used" (repro page, screenshot with 5296, connect feedback ID 47754) is still present.

Thanks, I'll look into that cycling thing. But I'm more into kayaking than anything else.

You might need your parents permission. You might have to be 18 depending on the state you live in...

Have to uninstall the previous beta first, but damed if I can't find it in the Add/Remove Programs. It says it's in Windows Updates when you get the install error, but where is that?

In Add/Remove Programs, you have to checkmark the box at the top where it says "Show Updates".

Then you'll see a listing of all the Updates at the bottom of the list. IE7 will appear there.

You need to check the box at the top labled "Show Updates" first.

I'm getting Goldstein/1984 flashbacks.

EDIT: here's the quote I was looking for:
The program of the Two Minutes Hate varied from day to day, but there was none in which Goldstein was not the principal figure.

Unfortunately this build has done nothing to improve the HTTP Digest situation. As pretty much all of the web pages that my company produces use multiple frames and digest authentication this makes it impractical to do any proper testing and fixing.

Could you please fix this one so that those of us using digest can test properly....it seems like a simple bug.

But on the plus side, it is pretty slick and nice to use and I have been using the previous build as my primary browser since it was released.

Keep up the good work.

I hear IE7 uses a strict parser... have you tried using CDATA sections?

Yeah, thats how I ended up fixing it. Oddly I get errors when I try to include • or , I'll be bugging these but I have a feeling it's by design.

It's by design because those are not XML entities.

If you are using XSL to do the transformations, use

<!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet [
<!ENTITY nbsp " ">
]>

at the beginning of the XSL file.

Wheres my head at?

It wouldn't display any feeds for me until I updated my MSXML3. At download of MSXML3 SP7 and a reboot seemed to fix it.

Why is IE7 still using MSXML3? You know MSXML6 has been out for several months.

My IE7 based mini feed reader still seems to be working. Though its showing 0 unread counts for all the feeds even though I've not visited all the items.

still loving the new IE. I know it's late in the day however, but it would be so mmuch nicer if the menu button was like that in Office, the big round circle you press in 2007 to get at the various menu items.

IE probably uses the version independant ProgIDs and/or GUIDs to instantiate the MSXML objects, and all of the versions after 3 install in side-by-side mode by default, to those IDs still point to version 3.
