When you say "considered a leak" please explain by whom, other than yourself? I don't recall anything in the T&C saying "thou shalt not tell anyone when we make new beta downloads available to you" but feel free to correct me.
Any Connect user on the beta can see the download and there is no "announcement" there about not mentioning the release.
This specific release is also mentioned on Longhornblogs and in fact was mentioned by MANY different blogs last week (although the release date was strongly hinted at as being Monday or Tuesday this week, with subsequent contradictions that this release was not going to be made after all).
You say "this was meant to be a reward for those actively involved with the newsgroups" - with what authority do you say that? If true then maybe the lesson to be learnt here is that with so much information available in the download notes area then maybe this should have been made clear there so that those simply using Connect to keep up-to-date would have been made aware of this intention.
The problem is that there are so many conflicting sources of information it's hard to get the real story.
The Connect download area is the main source of information and I've found Channel 9 to be another useful source. To castigate someone for having gone to the trouble of passing on useful information calling it a "leak" seems rather harsh to me, but if the T&C specifically forbid mentioning release numbers outside the closed newsgroups then I'm happy to be corrected. Otherwise I think you owe the original poster an apology. I notice that he, unlike you, is happy to identify himself in terms of blog, public URL and profile entries.
Wow, where to start.
I suppose a source would be useful. Look at the post titled "5365--It's Coming!!!!" in the announcments newsgroup.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Channel 9 would count as elsewhere no? My post was not to criticize but to inform. I'm sure he wouldn't like to be kicked off the beta for so trivial an offence. In any case it's now a moot point as all the usual suspects have caught wind of it.
Finally I fail to see the relevance of me posting my personal information or not. I don't walk into a bar shouting my name so why would I do the same online, but that's an entirely different matter.
